I’m currently in a chain of 4 properties where my buyer and their buyer  have instructed Countrywide.. 
Luckily despite recommendations from our estate agents we chose a different solicitor.
From the beginning Countrywide have caused nothing but unnecessary delays. We are currently 5 months in and still no exchange date has been agreed mainly as a result of the excessive amount of time it takes Countrywide to respond to even the simplest of enquiry, we’ve waited 2 weeks on occasion for a response with the norm being around a week, totally unacceptable and appalling service.

Our chain of 5 properties has been waiting to exchange for 4 weeks. We are all waiting on Countrywide solicitors to respond. They haven’t responded to our estate agents or our solicitors or any of the other solicitors in our chain for that matter. They are about to lose 5 couples their properties if they don’t respond. Horrendous customer service.

EDIT: HOW HAVE YOU RESPONED TO THIS COMPLAINT WITHIN 1 HOUR YET YOU CANT RESPOND TO OUR SOLICITOR TO EXCHANGE ON OUR HOUSE!!!!

If I can give zero I will do it.
The estate agency recommended us to use their service and gave me a £1100 quotation at the beginning.
Received the paperwork, found the quotation gone up to £1900.
Queried but nobody want to give me an explanation.
Ask for a refund but have to chase them everyday. Refund but deducted a £60 without any explanation again.
Poor services, poor communication, glad I stopped using them.

While using Countrywide seems to be an ideal option for house sellers using specific estate agent chains, having opted to use them, there were difficulties in making contact with the solicitor who frequently failed to return calls. At least the legal assistant made up for some of the shortcomings. 

As a probate sale, despite provision of all the relevant documentation at the time of instruction, CW asked to see the original death certificate THREE DAYS before completion to satisfy other side’s lawyers. Unbelievable. 

Then the ultimate annoyance – they sent the final invoice with a ‘cheque enclosed’  sentence, but no cheque! Took a further 4 days for it to appear. Then to rub salt in, on the detailed invoice, they’d charged for work not needed nor carried out. Needed several phone calls to get hold of someone, who then didn’t return calls that day or the next. 

I also found out that CW (as a company) acted for both buyer and seller in this transaction, though different teams, which I was not advised of beforehand, and take the view that it is bordering on the unethical. Even being in the same location doesn’t seem to make the speed of the transaction any quicker. 

Their fees are the same as a local solicitor, but CW don’t give the same level of service nor attention to detail. 

Having sold, now I am buying, and was dismayed to learn my mortgage provider has asked Countrywide Surveyors to survey the purchase property – and they can’t do it for THREE WEEKS, so through no fault of my own, there is now a delay in getting my mortgage offer and affecting my house move. If a survey cant be done within a week, then it should be offered to another surveyor who can. Not happy at a delay in a supposedly stagnating market – how would they cope when it’s buoyant? Would not recommend and one star is one too many!

Would never ever use again has been a nightmare from the start, 
Can never get hold of our actual solicitor and constantly getting fobbed off by everyone never get a straight answer.
Was told exchange date was 8/12 it's now 3/1/18 and still not happened to be promised it to be 5/1/18 to be told today it might be it might not be how professional you never get a call back when they tell you they will the full place is a absolute joke avoid at all costs. 
They are very quick to get in contact when they want paying though
