Honestly haven't eaten anywhere near as badly as this since life left me eating from the bins at the back of circle K. Daughter got nachos that were soft and bendy... and she sent them back. We were told it was because they had sauce on them... we make nachos about twice per month, and not only did I do catering management at college, but my daughter is home educated and helps in a cafe once a week. Fob off claims don't wash well. The dry parts of nachos are not supposed to be flexible! There is no chef here. It's a wanna be cook throwing food together abysmally and with an arrogance that leaves them totally unable to take responsibility for the rubbish they're turning out. My daughter then ordered something she said they couldn't mess up, tomato pasta... and when it came..she said they messed it up. She said it was grainy, like it had sand in it, with cold sauce that didn't have any flavour. She's tried to shake it up with a bit of the dreadful hard dry sausage from her dad's breakfast but still couldn't eat it. Her dad always picks the "most filthy thing" on the menu for me, I love eating food that's totally different... And I have never, in 15 years, never been beaten. until now. Vimto burgers are actually grim AND worse with cold chips. It was like eating birthday cake with meat in. Sweet and meat is normally such an amazing combination and ordinarily something I'd choose but this was utterly vile. The chicken wings would have been fab... if not coated in some cold nandos type dipping sauce. The lady came and asked us if our meal was ok and we shock our heads and said not really... Looking at our still full plates, she reflected our distaste by wincing and walked away...That was it... Why ask at all? What is the purpose of saying "was everything ok with your meal?" Why look at whole entire meals and then not only ask but agree and walk away. After we finished our beer, I asked for a takeaway bag.. and told the server that if we couldn't eat it, I would at least feed it to my dogs! They eat out of the cat litter tray given half the chance...so won't be bothered. A whole new level of absolutely dreadful and it cost more than £40! The photos are some of the finished meals! I can only add 6. To top it all... cotton Kier replied "Glad we could help" on my Facebook review!
We had booked into a different Greene King a couple of miles away, we walked in spent 2 minutes and walked back out again. Checked on the map and found The Cotton Kier. Very glad we did. The staff where very welcoming and accommodating. Found us a seat straight away. Ordered at the bar, but the app was available. Only a short wait for the food, but well worth it. The steak I ordered came cooked perfectly and presented well. Very nice portions for the price. Desserts where bigger than expected and very nice. Overall I'm glad the other venue was not suitable for a nice meal standing room only and very, very loud. More like a busy pub than an eatery.
Went here for first time recently for lunch with family - it's inexpensive with a large menu and the staff are polite and helpful, I had as pictured chicken skewers with side salad and sweet potato fries but was amazed how quickly the food arrived which left me wondering if much of it is re- heated ? Food aside the building is starting to look unloved with foliage/ plants growing out of the roof and gutters and the gents toilets in a sad state.... Many pub chains have had a very tough time due to lockdown/ covid restrictions and repair costs are probably on the back burner right now and I sympathize, but for me it was just ok...
Been coming to the pub for years is always our first choice with us having a few little ones in the family the love the play corner. Food is always good and team are always so lovely nice to see management working with the team, young lady with glasses is just what the pub needed. We will be back for a smothered steak sizzler very soon.
I must say service is fantastic but prdering a steak medium rare which starts off well done and half way through is raw is not my ideal meal
Went for Christmas dinner here on Boxing Day, and it was the worst meal I’ve ever been served in my life. The Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were rock hard, and the meal seemed as though it was left over from Christmas Day and microwaved. I am also 3 month pregnant and was served along with an 11 year old relative Gluten free beer instead of alcohol free beer. Honestly I would not feed that dinner to a dog. Will never come here again.
Not too pleased with the menu as we hoped they would have fish and they didn't, I was shocked for a Saturday. The coffee machine wasn't working and they didn't seem to have many options for my vegetarian friend. No loo roll in the toilets either! The food we did end up having was good b u the service wasn't too impressive. Wouldn't be going again in a hurry.
I had a meal here with my 2 daughters and my grandson and the meal was OK but I've had better and the portion was not as much as a normal curry that I ordered, the poppadoms where small and I didn't like the taste. I found the seating a little uncomfortable being a wheelchair user and on the larger side and so sitting on ripped seats and pushed up against a table was not good but I won't be going back again. I managed to get a disabled parking space near to the entrance and there's plenty of lighting outside, not too far from the cinema if you fancy watching a movie. The place could be better if cleaned up with refurbished seating and working TV monitors as the one at our table was not working and was filthy with stuff stuck to it which makes me question how clean the kitchen is on a daily basis. I would like to see this venue improve in the new year as until then I wouldn't want to visit again. I have been told that this place use to be very busy and very popular but it's now very quiet. If management happens to be reading this, please make these changes and get back the venue it use to be! Also your drinks need to be brought down, way too much and I was going to not bother ordering a drink.
Went out to celebrate a new job... What a mistake to choose hungry horse Cotten Kier. We order 3 lots of chicken wings/strips... All arrived plain with little dishes of sauce / powder to flavour... Then we waited a further 45 minutes for mains... 3 steaks and a mixed grill... Not a single meal was cooked right and it was only sheer starvation that it didn't go back .. 2 steaks for my teenagers ordered medium well were rare... One son actually said he could hear it still mooing... My husband's was ordered medium rare and was grey and very well done. My mixed grill was just about cooked, sausages were very pale and bland, chicken sponge like and just about cooked, as was the gammon. Chips on all plates were near cold and half tomato's so burnt. The waiting staffed asked half way through the meal how it was and we told them, the boys were given complimentary ice cream .. been years since we have been and will be years before we return.
Always a great place for families. Soft play area to keep kids entertained, great choice of food and drinks. Brilliant service although half hour waiting time for food but managed to wait
