I was surprised to see quite a big hall in what I thought and was told a small building. It is as if you got into a different dimension! Very nice staff, no crowds, sweet and salty popcorn, coffee and an old-fashioned and nice tradition of ice-cream served just in the hall before the film started. Makes good impression. The interior is cost, very different from what you expect looking at the cinema from the street.
Such an amazing classic cinema! This is a hidden gem in Leeds and is a far more cinematic experience than going to any of the big chains. I couldn’t recommend the place more! Also the staff are always super lovely :
Having last visited almost 30 years ago, I was very pleased to see that it hadn't changed in a positive way. Very friendly staff, plenty of room to stretch out and very reasonably priced snacks and drinks. Such a great experience compared to the usual cinema chains...
I was taken to the cottage road cinema by my late mother in the 60's, along with my sister. Watched many a good film there "this is where we came in " when films were shown continuously and you could go in part way through! The organist played before the curtains came up. I'm almost 70 mow, happy memories, happy days. Hope the cinema has many years ahead!
If you love history, you'll love this place, like a real walk back into the past, despite this, the screen and sound system are very up to date.
Genuinely amazing local cinema. It just makes going out for a film feel more special watching it here. Always been clean when I've gone with a good atmosphere and comfy. =
cottage road cinema is a classic. it's got old cinema vibes and is located in a pretty good place in far headingly. it partakes, like all cinemas in Leeds, in the Leeds international film festival and puts on some great films as a part of that program. my one gripe with it is that the seats aren't that comfy but it is to be expected what with it being a cinema of a certain style/age/ethos
Wonderful cinema. Huge Screen and such a beautiful building. The snacks and tickets are very reasonable priced. We will be back!
You don't get the comforts of the new style cinemas with reclining seats etc but that's the compromise to experiencing the cinema how it was.
I love this cinema warm friendly inexpensive and overall a wonderful experience. Excellent programme of special screenings eg the Nat. Theatre Prima Facie was a great treat.
