Lovely experience of eating a pre theatre meal at the Cosy club. Very attentive staff who were polite, jolly and attentive. Food was served pretty quickly and across the table was very well received. I had the seabass with roasted potatoes in a cream sauce. Very yummy. Fish was moist but well crisped on the skin. Lots of flavour. Apparently salmon was also really nice. Chicken burger was a great big portion although suffered slightly from the common resturant problem of Very tall when it could just have been wider! But all very good. Puddings also full of flavour recommend the apple tart. Cocktails very tasty. Again recommend the cherry bakewell one. Atmosphere was bustling but not too brash or overly noisy. It was easy to chat and be heard. The space is very high ceiling with a strange collection of old portraits on the walls and clustered lampshades above. Nice and quirky. We actually outstayed our two hour table slot so were moved over to the comfy sofas for our coffees. It's not cheap but not overly expensive either. My fish was £18 and apple tart was £8.50. Heartily recommend. A lively lovely evening.
We went there for my boyfriend's mum birthday meal. The interior of the place is quite unusual. I did like elements of it. The service was really great. Food was tasty and well presented. I think that drinks were pretty expensive , but that might be just my opinion. Overall, it was positive first visit at the Cosy Club
What a lovely bar and restaurant. Didn't try the food, but we did try the drinks. Relaxed place and great staff.Service: 5/5
We were in Exeter for a day out yesterday and went to Cosy Club for an early dinner. It is a nice place out of the way, it was quiet and the building is gorgeous, the decor is victorian classic in line with Cosy Club brand. The staff were very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was tasty and fresh, arrived quickly, my husband ordered a burger and I had the Primavera salad from the vegan menu. It arrived with some cheese on it, but the mistake was quickly rectified, with apologies and a complimentary side of delicious olives on the house. Lana and her colleagues made our dining experience a pleasant one and we will be returning!
Unassuming exterior leads to an amazing interior Service was swift and attentive Didn’t have to wait too long for our orders to arrive, we ordered apple tart with a 20 minute warning but we got it in less than 10 minutes. Highly recommend but you must book!
What a find. I had not heard of this brand before my son booked 4 of us into supper here. Nice buzz and busyness for a Sunday night. Loved the quirky decor. Very grand building as in the radiation part of an old Victorian hospital. The little sign outside has no indication of what a fab place you find inside. We had cocktails, drinks, starters and mains. First world problem, I know, but mildly disappointed W the red wine list. ..I like a good Pinot Noir, struggled to find a red to order. Not sure if my sea bass was meant to be quite so drowned in so much olive oil. I ate the food which was delicious, and left the oil. The other 3 had steaks which they devoured. Loved the wilted spinach but not so keen on the wilted rocket which would have been better left off the plate. Will definitely come again. Quibbles W the food are overtaken by the place itself. Liked it a lot. Dietary restrictions: Liked the separate Gluten Free menu & liked the GF flags
Loved every minute of my first visit. Lena was a superb host and the whole team were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nice, varied lunchtime menu: Spanish chicken was flavoursome, warming and hearty dish; fish cakes were light and crispy, served with a perfect poached egg and hollandaise. Desserts all sounded inviting, and the brownie with ice cream won the day! Recommended.
This is a great place to come if you are watching a show after at the Barnfield theatre. The food options vary from tapas dishes to a range of main courses to suit everyone. The food is a step up from a pub and reasonably well prepared. I had some issues with the rocket leaves that were quite wilted and the bread had seen better days perhaps from the freezer? - but the ravioli and salmon were nice. Service was good. Update - The bread was actually fresh, but perhaps it was very slightly toasted leading me to believe it wasn't
The service staff was too few for the number of guests. Not the fault of the individual service staff who were trying to be as good as possible. The bartender also had to cover some reception duties. Two children meals came 20-25 minutes after the adult items but the adults waited a while before beginning to eat. The childrens food was comped without even asked. The steak was ordered medium well but was small and dry. The cheddar/potatoe bake was good. Duck confit was good.
Visited for brunch. It's an old hospital building, which is reflected in the decor and style, and is nice to see the theme preserved, if not entirely authentically. We thought some of the tables were a little close together given the space the rooms provide. The food is perfectly fine for the price, portion sizes spot on and the quality decent enough. We found the service a tad on the slow side though, both in terms of waiting staff and food time, whilst it wasn't especially busy.
