We stayed in a 4 bed lodge which was lovely, warm and clean and had all the amenities you would need. We had 3 dogs with us and were provided with bowls, treats and blankets which was a nice touch. The hot tub was good but could be doing with some kind of canopy as our lovely Scottish weather stopped us being able to use as much as we would have liked and with the woodland locatiion we ended up pulling a lot of leaves out. The locatiion was a bit isolated for us and not much to see or do in Newton Stewart so we ended up driving around quite a bit. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Great places to stay, the lodges are all lovely. We were lucky to have got Birch Lodge 18, which is hidden away in the corner so as to get some privacy. Inside of the lodge looked great, nice and clean also. Great location for looking up to the stars at night. Location wise is about 10 min drive to Sainsburys or Aldi. Only niggle points are on the last day the temperature in the hot tub was luke warm at best. We couldn't see any visible place to adjust the temperature, other than a locked panel on the hot tub itself. The bathroom mirror has an integrated light, which I could only assume wasn't wired properly as the mirror itself was really warm, like a radiator. All in all though, lovely lodges in a great location
Great 2 nights away for my sisters 60th birthday with sisters, niece, daughter and friend. Had a little problem finding it but got there in the end. Lodge was spotless as was the hot tub. The only down side was the bathroom downstairs .As I'm a double amputee there wasnt much room for my wheelchair Could be doing with a disabled toilet
This is our 3rd year in staying at Conifer lodges. in a different lodge each time We stayed in Osprey lodge 8 Auchendoon September 2022 Four adults and a dog. Really lovely spacious, well equipped lodge. Everything was spotlessly clean. We made full use of the hot tub can't beat lying in the tub, on a clear night watching the stars. The kitchen was nicely fitted out in a modern grey. Nice full size fridge freezer etc. The two huge bedrooms with super king beds and ensuites both with double head showers and heated towel rails lovely and warm And an added roll top bath in the master bedroom. Lovely comfy sofas, smart TV and a great Bluetooth speaker set in the ceiling in the living room. The lodge has underfloor heating, though we never worked out how to make the rooms any warmer probably set to come on when the temperatures drop below a certain level. Loads of space for parking two cars and nice grassy areas, trees etc. The only slight niggles was the dining table, cosy for 4 adults but there was plenty of room for a bigger one or even an extending table. Also the master bedroom has the hot tub right outside the window so when the hot tub does its cleaning cycles at night it can be a bit noisy. Other than that a great place to stay.
Lodge was clean. Everything you could need provided. We have stayed at conifer lodges several times and will definitely be returning.Rooms: 4/5
Just back from our 3rd stay at these lodges and had a brilliant stay. Grounds are beautiful and kept spotless. Lodges are beautiful although this last one had a bit of a damp smell but that may be due to being sheltered by the trees. It would be good if some sort of enclosure could be built over the hot tub as with our unpredictable weather it would mean you could use them anytime during your stay. But still looking forward to our next trip.
Excellent, accommodation was superb, staff were friendly and helpful. If you have young children, please note there is no entertainments except for a tennis court, and there is no clubhouse on site. Its a 15 minute walk from Newton Stewart if you want a pub etc. If you want to turn off the night lights, do so in the fuse box only way, and enjoy the dark skies experience. Ideal for a relaxing break.
Beautiful lodge on the edge of Newton stewart and the Galloway Forest. 3 bed 3 bath Lord Galloway, very spacious and well equipped. Lots of room for 6 adults and very comfortable. All mod cons and of course the hot tub which was very well used. Great little woodland walk on site and free tennis. I doubt there is anywhere in the area with better self catering accommodation.
Just back, already booked twice for next year. Peace and quiet, unlike a lot of places with noisy club houses , friendly staff, great walks with dog. Close to town for pubs, restaurants.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed at Kestrel Lodge 7 and I have to say it is beautiful and very luxuriously decked out. However I was not impressed with how small and uncomfortable the hot tub was. 2 adults could hardly fit in it. It was also not private in the slightest, with at least 3 other lodges able to see directly in. I was also disappointed/disgusted that there was an oily film and dead skin floating in it. I was advised by the site manager that it had been checked and cleared but I strongly dispute this. I booked this break to enjoy the hot tub but this really took the shine off our stay. And did not want to use it again even after they offered to come clean it again. I have been to conifer lodges before and I will go back as our other visits were excellent, I just would not use the Auchendoon Lodges again.
