The family room which is actually two rooms with a shared bathroom was good value for money. At £89.00 But we didn't use the bath with shower over because it was in bad state. Very old furniture but not in a good way Everything badly needes refurbishing. The breakfast was very good however and the hotel is fine for one night stopover if you are touring and on a strict budget as we were. The hotel next door is good for evening meals and drinks
Caution very noisy accommodation.nStayed here for one night And there was a lot of noise. From what I can make out it's a halfway house with non workers in . Didn't get to sleep until about 2 in the morning which left me very tired for work. If you want a good night's sleep stay clear.
Very quiet room. Helpful and friendly staff and a good breakfast. They stored our bikes in the office overnight, so full marks from me.
Gerard McGonigle.nMy wife and I stayed in this hotel in September this year 2024 and were delighted with the place. We could not understand how it ever received bad reviews. The staff were always pleasant and included in the very affordable price was a full Scottish breakfast.I’d have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Sincerely, Mr.&Mrs.McGonigle.
I didn't book this place, it was provided for us by our customer so I have no idea how much the rooms were.nI'll just give an honest review laying out the facts, not my opinions.nParking - You have to drive through an extremely narrow tunnel to get round the back to the car park. There are a few spots out front on the street but not many.nLocation - there are plenty of shops within walking distance and a decent pub/restaurant next door. The Bruce was not serving evening meals during our stay.nCheck-in was pleasant and friendly, the guy at the desk was very informative about where to eat.nThe hotel is being renovated so all the hallway walls were in the process of being painted.nThe carpets are threadbare but I expect they will be replaced too after the painting.nThe room - it's clear the hotel hasn't had an update in a while. The rooms are extremely dated. One of the single beds in my room was broken, the duvets are quite thin, it was quite cold, the bathroom furniture is very old and tarnished, there is a TV but is tiny. You do get a tray with biscuits and a kettle for making hot drinks and in fairness the room was clean and I slept OK.nThe breakfast - lovely and tasty full Scottish breakfast with quick and friendly service.nI've just checked the price online and it says £65 a night.nMy final opinion - it's OK for one or 2 nights if you're working away, on a budget and just need a bed for the night with a good warm breakfast to start the day. Definitely not the worst place I've ever stayed.
