Downton Abbey Hotel Alternative? Coldeast is a great alternative to a traditional hotel. It's set in a very quiet neighborhood on an old estate. I had a one bedroom apartment for 3 nights. The thing that I really liked is the fact that the rooms had been recently refurbished... actually the rooms are brand new. They are being built into this old mansion, turned hospital and which is now becoming a hotel and conference facility. A few things to few 1) it's incredibly peaceful and quiet 2) there are no restaurant facilities on the property currently and 3) the property is under renovation right now. The function rooms and a significant portion of the mansion are under reconstruction right now, so the rooms that are available have been freshly created, but haven't been fully integrated into a complete experience as of yet. So think of it as a wonderful property but still in transition. The other thing to know is that the rooms currently do not have air conditioning, they have large windows which for my taste was fine, but in a very hot summer, might be of concern. The beds are comfortable although storage was limited, bathroom large and the kitchenette was nice and modern. When complete I'd rate it a five, but gave it four stars since it's still under construction. I look forward to coming back.

Fantastic stay here! Peaceful and everything at your own speed. Self catering at its best for a weekend away or a business trip. Venue is a must.

My wife and I stayed over for three nights last week. The newly refurbished mansion is truly something quite special. The location is quiet yet not off the beaten track. There are easy access routes to the local pubs, shopping centres and restaurants. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The rooms were spacious and modern. The kitchen was fully equipped and very stylish. As a couple who frequamtly travel across the country, we often stay in a variety of different forms of accommodation. Coldeast Mansion has so far been one of the most comfortable experiences we have had. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Coldeast Mansion and I would highly recommend this wonderful establishment to my friends and family.
