The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They let me know what was happening nearby and how that might effect my travel/parking. The room was clean and had great lighting. Comfy bed and good shower pressure.Rooms: 5/5
To check in, we went through a bar that was already loud and busy at 3 pm. on a Thursday. One-off the patrons tried to bum some money for a slot machine. The room itself was tiny and part of an annexe round back of the pub. Our twin beds were right next to each other, and the window looked out at the beer garden. The bar had music playing right up until half 12 at which point there was an argument outside and I could clearly hear one man hurling racist abuse at another and trying to pick a fight and this went on for about 10 or 15 minutes. We decided then that if this was a Thursday night, it wouldn't get any better over the weekend, and seeing as we were there for business. We ended up booking another hotel and checking out early.
Although the room and the bar need decorating and a good clean the people running the place and the regular customers were fantastic, a great time was had Rooms: Room needed some attention, carpet needed cleaning as did the throw on the bed Food & drinks: £3.00 a pint, can't complain
If I could give less stars I would. I will never come here again the stench in the building was horrific the decor is depressing the noise from the pub was horrendous we had our window open and the staff stood underneath it blowing their cigarette smoke which was wafting up into our room. The attitude of the lady behind the bar was intimidating and unfriendly. Awful awful awful.
Booked a room for a colleague but they didn't feel comfortable with the state of the shower. There was black mould around it and the windows were thin and drafty. I understand you get what you pay for, but basic cleanliness should always be adhered to no matter the cost. I'd much rather they put the price up a few pound and made sure the rooms were clean. Had to book another hotel as they were not going to get any sleep had they stayed there. Safety: Area didn't look or feel safe for my colleague who was staying there though that's no fault of the venue.
I stayed here for a comicon as it was cheap but unfortunately its difficult to get sleep due to the Dj and partying downstairs which is to be expected, the room was okay but a little worn down and the door did get stuck a few times so I had to lift it.Rooms: 2/5
If you are thinking of booking this hotel don't, we stayed on a Sunday night ,at check-in the noise from karaoke was deafening, our room was filthy with mould around shower and toilet seat falling off. We got a parking ticket a week after arriving home for £100,for parking in their car parkRooms: 1/5
The place was dirty, and the room smelled of smoke. The room we were put into had stuff left over from work they had been doing in the room. They were paint pots, a power tool and ladder left in the room. The bed had dust on it and so did the window sill. The curtains also didnt close properly. The pub was still open downstairs when we arrived and we didnt feel comfortable complaining to the lady who checked us in.The whole place gives off workmen vibes and it was mainly men drinking so we also felt uncomfortable to complain due to this. Rooms: Old, and need an upgrade. Bed was comfy enough for one night. The room was dusty, including the sheets and the curtains didn't shut properly. Bathroom fairly clean.
Rooms smell. Some of the showers have mould. No soap on sink. Carpets probably not changed for decades. One of the showers leaks into the pub below. They need to spend some money to make this more habitable. Avoid if you can.Rooms: 1/5
We stayed for one night during the commonwealth games so barely spent 8 hours in the room - which was a blessing. I’m happy to support the flailing industry by booking an independent pub hotel at a very cheap rate - but honestly the room smelt of a damp sewer to the point of feeling nauseous. The window latches were broken so we couldn’t open the windows and the wooden bed was rotting and falling apart. I will say that the cafe down the road did do an really amazing breakfast and the pub/cleaning staff were friendly. And yes as per the below comments the pub is busy and rowdy even at 10am on a weekday! I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless its merely a pit stop and you have a strong constitution.
