Incredible food in a cosy setting. The menu's creative but not pretentious, the ingredients are fresh and flavoursome and the service is attentive and friendly. Nice atmosphere in an intimate setting, with a good wine/drinks list too. Overall it's a great dining experience and hands down the best restaurant in the area.
Really excellent. We arrived in time for our booking but ended up seeing a friend downstairs so asked if we could delay our dinner by an hour or so and sit downstairs with them. Nothing was too much trouble – when the dinner did come, how delicious. Utterly unpretentious but with real effort made in not just the ingredients and balance of flavours but presentation also. The wines are lovely but they don’t have a great selection by the glass in the restaurant I have to say. It is quite expensive – from memory the wine list downstairs too in the bar cheapest was nearly £40 and went right up to 100+. At the £50-60 a bottle range we tried three different ones and all rather lovely wines and they represented decent value in fact. My guests who didn’t know prices were certainly full of nothing but praise for them. It was a Thursday night and the atmosphere downstairs was great. When we first turned up around 7 it was still relatively quiet and people were just having a glass of wine or two at tables but by the time we came back down after dinner around 10 and stayed there until the end – the live singer was on and the atmosphere was epic. The sort of thing in central London/Soho parts you may expect to find but by Fulham standards, what a find! Full marks to all the staff – all in all we had a really great night. Would I come here again? Probably not just for a bottle of wine at 5,6pm – there are other places you could go for literally half the price - but if I fancied the restaurant upstairs and/or drinks including wine later in the evening with that atmosphere, the atmosphere there makes it a no-brainer. Great place for dinner/drinks with mates or a date. Quite young crowd – Id say 80% of the people there were between 28-35.
Looks amazing, but tastes - at best -'interesting'. Frankly, I was disappointed. It's like a catering student has gone crazy with the flavours and the piping bag mixing as many different tastes as he/she could find on one plate - some ok, many just not-very-nice. Just because it sounds cool don't make it tasty. I have never been to a restaurant with these two friends before where we've ordered desserts and not wanted to finish any of them. A perfect example of style over substance. God help you should Jay Raynor come to review you.
5 stars? you might ask! As an anglophile of sorts but never impressed by British food, I had heard raves, for the last 10-15 years, of the modern take on typical local and seasonal produce by young chefs. Visiting London atleast twice a year and never trying it out, not for want of desire, but lack of interest by friends in London, I finally got my way. Other than the wine, everything is local. Now the sad part is that at my age my memory is not too helpful in recalling the menu. Few unusual items I can remember, guinea fowl, romanesco a broccoli type veggie. There were six of us and I gently guided everyone to have different food items, 'cause I wanted a taste of all. Did I get it. The attention and focus on bringing out the flavours is obvious and the results are spectacular. Every dish from appetizers to main were outstanding in taste and combinations they were served in. My friends were blown away. The menu is sensibly limited and well thought out. Brilliant!
We went here to celebrate my sisters 25th birthday. We were offered a tuna steak special, which sounded great. However, we were not told that this was a starter, so the birthday girl received a small starter as her main meal... “Happy Birthday”. The broccoli was great though. The uncooked poached rabbit was not; it was served cold and red raw. It was sent back and the chef apologised. Its replacement was hot, but still pink. This dish was eventually on the house. In general, all our meals were served cold and tasteless. They also forgot a glass of wine, until we reminded the staff. A complimentary rhubarb dessert was presented with our bill on a platter that smelt of damp cloth. For the price of the food, the experience was unacceptable and infamously memorable.
very sadly 3 of us had dinner recently at Claude's kitchen and the experience was, to be honest, dreadful. I had eaten once before and not enjoyed it but my wife had had a meal that she quite liked. This time we had starters e.g. beetroot, that were tasteless and dry and lacking in any discernibly positive flavour. The main courses e.g. monkfish, were minuscule and dry and lacking in any sort of sauce. We ordered wine but had to remind them 10 minutes later when nothing had appeared - not too busy as eating early. My last visit. And the idea that this is one of the top three romantic restaurants in London is frankly laughable. So sadly a very very negative experience and our food, on this occasion, was awful.
We reserved a table for 9pm but they had run out of all mains except artichokes. One star for the anticlimax of only having a starter before leaving, but a bonus star for the waiter who was very kind and accommodating, given the circumstances.
Fantastic food here and highly recommend. Staff were fantastic and very attentive. A great place to take a foodie.
Unfortunately was disappointing all round. food was overpriced and not of the high standard expected, key wines unavailable and service average though made up for in part by a generous and friendly GM keen to make amends.
Haute Cuisine in a lovely part of London. Upstairs above a great bar it is tucked away from the crowds. We started with Champagne and their amuse bouche of marmite butter and toast. Quite the culinary experience.
