We spotted this restaurant after spending some time at the local park with the family. As we all love Malaysian food, we thought we’d give it a try and ordered several dishes to take away.nnWe ordered the beef rendang, char kway teow, chicken satay, aromatic crispy duck, special fried rice and nasi goreng.nnAs a chef with over 30 years of experience, and having travelled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, I have to say I found the food incredibly disappointing.nnThe chicken satay was overcooked and tasted as though the chicken had been deep-fried or oven-cooked before having satay sauce poured over it. Traditionally, satay chicken is grilled, ideally over charcoal, which gives it that distinctive smoky flavour. To be fair, the satay sauce itself tasted quite nice.nnThe biggest disappointment was the beef rendang. Unless I was given the wrong dish, this was nothing like any traditional beef rendang I have experienced. It appeared to be slices of fried beef with lots of onions in a curry-style sauce, rather than the rich, slow-cooked rendang I was expecting.nnUnfortunately, the aromatic crispy duck was also overcooked and very chewy, to the point that it was almost inedible. The hoisin sauce was as expected.nnBoth the special fried rice and nasi goreng were quite dry, although the nasi goreng did have a nice flavour.nnThe char kway teow was by far the best dish of the order. It was a good-sized portion, had plenty of flavour and was the one dish we genuinely enjoyed.nnOn the positive side, the food was reasonably priced and the portion sizes were fair. However, overall the quality of the food was a big let-down, particularly as we had been looking forward to some good Malaysian food.nnBased on this experience, unfortunately, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return.
Had a wonderful time dining here recently. Everything was perfect.nnThe food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. I especially loved the way the dishes were presented, particularly the shrimp served in that unique little iron bowl. It is such a nice touch to enjoy a cold Tsingtao beer with the meal as well.nnThe atmosphere is very welcoming and the service was great throughout the evening. We will definitely be back again soon.
Absolutely amazing food. I had the duck Kapitan and it’s the best I’ve ever had. Very attentive staff and reasonably priced.
Simply THE best restaurant. Superb food, great staff who are super friendly. The food is super, freshly cooked and tastes perfect no matter what you order. It was my birthday and they bought out a surprise yummy ice cream with a candle in it and played Happy Birthday. A lovely touch that made our visit just that bit more special. The whole experience is a ten out of ten.i can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. Just go and see for yourselves.
Fantastic restaurant, lovely fresh food, the take away is the same calabre.. i have eatten in and got take away many times over the years and its so consistent. Absolutely love and recomend 100%.nOntop of that the staff are just magical, so friendly and welcoming. High praise all round!
