Magical. Cute outdoor tea garden, friendly staff, lovely stream running through unspoilt valley, excellent walking, lots of birds, free parking. After wandering through the valley, we stopped at Falling Foss Tea Garden. Whilst sitting and eating our cream tea, we could hear the trickling water which was very relaxing and were visited by a number of small birds, this robin was very brave, we had our dogs with us too and it wasn't fazed by them. All packaging was recycled and recyclable, no single-use plastic in sight. There were a number of shaded seating areas, some wooden structures and some picnic tables with brollies.
Definitely off the beaten path, after a great couple of days at the coast, we set off home with the intention of finding this place to have some breakfast. After travelling down a single-track road, we were greeted with a beautiful woodland location with plenty of walks and a food venue which was very popular. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious and locally sourced - definitely what we needed. The seating area is part of the cottage grounds, surrounded by the woodland with the waterfall just over the fence which you can view easily. You can walk down to the waterfall if you're feeling brave and up to it!
Went to Falling Foss today. Easy parking but a steep walk down to the tea garden. When we got there though, it was well worth it. Pretty waterfall and lovely outdoor garden area with great range of delicious food and drinks. The scone was lovely and my partner enjoyed his food too. Sweet little birds flitting about by the tables, I could have stayed for ages. We walked up by the river but didn't go as far as MayBeck today but we will definitely return
Nice place to visit when you are in Whitby . It quite long walks down to the family run cafe. After the nice scone and cup of tea you could go walk in the wood which was very and peaceful. But If you have problems with the hips or legs , wouldn't recommend.
Great place to visit if you are around that area. Nice carpark and walks to to waterfall but beware it’s not for people with walking problems/disabilities but a few cars can get down to the tearoom via a track from the carpark Tearoom and garden was unfortunately closed on our visit so have not commented on it or it’s service but can say that the setting and outside space looks amazing.
Service is so friendly and lovely. The location is unmatched in my view. And gin was both unexpected and beautifully served. Didn't take any more photos but it is MAGICAL. You can see the little kiosk where service is from, and the variety of seating available. A lovely stop on a walk. Honestly if we lived anywhere near here we'd be there every weekend. Please ignore the grumpy 1 star reviews, I don't understand how people can fault things like the weather and the condition of the wooded surroundings when reviewing a business. Dumb. Having said that, those attempting to drive and park right outside are probably right in it being difficult. If you are able to walk, do park at the forestry commission car park and walk along the river the 15 mins? to here. Stunning.
Beautiful place. Steep walk down and back but so worth the view. Lovely tea garden where we sat and watched some wild birds while eating homemade cake.Stunning place.
An absolute gem of a place. Fantastic simple food perfectly made and presented. I had a BLT and the bacon is dry cured the tomatos were fresh cherry tomatoes and the lettuce was more like a mini salad. Mega. Excellent selection of fresh tea and coffee. Little play area and loads of seating.....even bar stool type seating looking out over the stream. I did see a wood fired pizza oven that I guess they use at more peak times.
Pleasant cafe. If you want to climb down to the waterfall there is no recognised path as such. We scrambled down had a paddle and scrambled back up again. Great fun. Parking: Official and an overflow carpark. We parked unofficially on the side of the road
Beautiful place to visit. Great little outside cafe , plenty of seating, some covered. Sensible footwear strongly advised, be aware, their is a quite steep walk down to the cafe & falls view point from the medium sized car park.Access to the bottom of the falls is possible but not sign posted as it’s unofficial I believe.. adult supervision of children is a must !! Caution needed on all the footpaths, plenty of tree roots to catch you out..
