I had a filling fall out whilst on holiday last year. I promised myself I would deal with it on my return and of course I didn't. Each month that went by the remaining tooth was crumbling and still, I didn't sort it. So just eating a bit of bread on Saturday my remaining bit of tooth broke. My Husband has recently been treated here and I trust his advice. I called in on Monday afternoon to be given an appointment on Tuesday at 10.30am. The remaining bit of tooth was then extracted on Thursday at 3pm. I was very nervous when stepping through the door on Monday , but my fears were allayed once I had spoken to the 2 Lisa's and Suzanne. All 3 of them gave me the reassurances that I needed and to carry out the procedures. I will go back for a check up in 3 months and I have now booked to see the hygienist in April. Thank you ladies very happy and grateful for all of your help.

I booked in with them this morning and I have been terrified of dentists since as a child having some awful treatment. Well I can happily recommend them to anyone. I prewarned them that I was nervous, was using my own deep breathing techniques to help me, but credit where it's due, they removed my tooth which needed doing and they have acquired a new patient. I've booked back for a free consultation in a couple of weeks to discuss some options I'd like to explore. There were so kind and gentle, they are officially my dentist from now on. Renewed faith in dentists that's for sure ;))))

This incident happened last year and I have only managed to write about it now. I was experiencing severe wisdom tooth pain for a few days and called NHS direct for advice. After describing my symptoms, I was advised to go to Chingford Smile for an emergency appointment. I was given an appointment for 2pm on the same day. I went to the surgery and filled out the paperwork, leaving my personal details including my mobile number and email address. I then saw a dentist who carried out an X-ray and explained that an extraction would be best. The nerve was exposed and the dentist covered the tooth temporarily to help manage the pain. I was then booked in to see an oral surgeon a few days later. On the day of my scheduled surgery, I left work early and made my way to the surgery. Upon arriving, I spoke to a receptionist who took my details and then informed me that I would not be seen that afternoon. The dentist was sick and no one had the courtesy to call me to inform me. There was no apology and I was blamed for not leaving my contact details. The receptionist was rude and unhelpful. I felt so angry that I had wasted an afternoon. They asked me to fill out paperwork but couldn't be bothered to carry out basic admin. I started arguing with the receptionist and was then approached by a nurse who took me to a room. The nurse apologised and empathised with my situation. She then went on to rebook me for an extraction the folllowing week. 2 days later, the pain was so excruciating that no amount of medication was helping to manage the pain. I called Chingford Smile who then agreed to see me on the same day. I arrived at the dentist and was given glucose and 2 injections. The oral surgeon, dentist and 2 nurses were all present when they began the extraction. I asked them to stop and told them that I could feel a sharp pain and requested another injection. The oral surgeon said that I should only feel pressure and I said I could feel pain. She pressured me to carry on with the extraction saying it will be very quick. This was the last time I spoke to and saw the oral surgeon. I had been experiencing severe toothache and sleepless nights and just wanted it over with. I then agreed and sat back into the chair. i was then subjected the most excruciating pain I had ever experienced. My hands were clenching the armrests, tears were coming out of my eyes and there was sweat on my brow as I tried not to writhe in my chair - it was agonising. I could hear the nurses laughing between themselves. Once the tooth was removed, the oral surgeon left the room and did not wait to see how I was. I sat in the chair, head in my hands. The other nurses and dentist seemed surprised to see me so distraught. I was in shock and requested nurofen from my handbag. I was disorientated and was given cotton wool before being escorted to the reception. The receptionist saw my face and how distraught I was as I sat down. The dentist requested a taxi to be ordered by the receptionist who then asked if I was in a fit state to leave. The dentist asked if I wanted to go home and I managed to nod. I was placed in the taxi and when I arrived at my door, I collapsed in tears as I pounded on the door. My sister opened it to find me hysterical and in a flood of tears. She had never seen me in such a state before and escorted me to my bed. Through my tears, I managed to say "I can't believe what they did to me. I could feel everything. It was so medieval". I then tried to sleep but couldn't as I felt so traumatised. I finally fell asleep after 2 hours. I have been left scarred by my experience and wish I had requested more injections. The oral surgeon treated me like a patient on a conveyor belt-maybe because it was under the NHS. I would advise anyone considering this practice to seriously not go there I trusted the dentist to have my best interests and she continued the surgery even though I wanted them to stop. No one should ever be put in that situation - that is not how dental health should be performed. They took advantage of a vunerable patient.
