Just come back from a birthday party in the top bar.
Fantastic atmosphere, the staff were great, friendly and joining in with the dancing.
The room is an excellent place for a get together.
DJ Nigel did the party proud.
Thanks everyone for a great night.

Absolute garbage! No egg with Gammon (gammon was burnt to a crisp), No onion rings with the burger, no veg with the steak! Chips were cold. We had to go to the bar to ask for sauce twice! Im only giving It one star as they got the drinks order correct. Wasn't even asked how my meal was when I paid. I'd rather of eaten pig swill. Second visit and certainly won't be going again, considering its been "redone" it was appalling.

Had a wonderful meal!
The service from the delightful assistant manager of the pub really stood out!
He was charming and explained the new opening hours ment the kitchen didn’t open until 5pm however he explained the special deal on that night 2 for £14 ( Monday).
We arrived at 4:30 so got a table and had a beer
I had the mixed grill and it was amazing!
Great value meal for 4 adults
Over all Excellent

-- In short; A long (1 hour +) wait with no refund/free drinks offered but reasonable pub grub. --
As a group with children we arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 5ish for a quick pub grub dinner Not particularly busy so we ordered pretty quick. No sign of food for a long tine, 45 minutes later we were told the orders hadn't gone through on the system and had to order all over again. Kids food then arrived 10 minutes later which was OK but ours followed a further 30 minutes later! Over an hour after the original order and never an offer of drinks, partial refunds or incentive to return.
The burger atleast was reasonable, although probably not worth the wait really.

If you want to go for a bite to eat, somewhere not too expensive, there are worse places to pick than The Cheshire Tavern.
That said, tonight was a bit of a mixed bag. I had pie n mash, with some veg. The pie was great, the mash was ok if she bit dry, the mixed veg was very much like the frozen mixed veg you get from the supermarket.
The hunter's chicken was fine I'm told. The two mixed grills weren't fantastic. Not overly hot, and both were requested with well done steak, but it was actually medium rare. Both people left over half the steak. Told the barman/waiter who apologised, then told the manager when we ordered desserts and paid, he apologised too n said he'd inform the chef.
So, staff were OK, food was average but not terrible (except for the aforementioned), oh its a bit pricier for food since it was refurbished. Used to be 2 for 1 etc, but not any more. At the price point it's now at I'd expect pretty good food, and twasnt really great. Last time we were there, one of us asked for a rare steak, and when it arrived it was well done. She had to complain as she wouldn't have eaten it at all. And of course she then had to eat after the rest of us had finished. Nice enough surroundings though. Oh and plenty of parking.
