The Chesapeake Mill is a beautiful example of a historic building being reborn into a unique retail outlet full of exiting merchandise. The Mill itself is of architecturalortance as a fine example of the re-use of salvage timber in construction - though the shell is brick all structural members within are of timber, most from the frigate 'Chesapeake' a warship captured by the Royal Navy in 1812 during a war. The mill is the finest example of recycled ship timber.
The Mill, at the time, was considered to be a very modern buildingin design - and throughout the years has played and important part to Wickham and the surrounding Meon Valley.
The Mill today has been transformed into a retail Haven where you can find treasures, glassware, gifts, jewellery and antiques and collectables beautifully compliment the charming building which accomodates it all.#
Recently we have dedicated an area within the Mill to educate our visitors of the architectural and historical significance of Wickham and the Mill itself.
