This is a great place to come for a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The pub itself is quite big, and the tables for those wanting to eat are nicely spaced so you are not sat on top of each other. The menu isn't huge but has something for all tastes and a good selection of specials. For value for money, it's excellent. Everything is freshly prepared and presented nicely. Would definitely recommend it.
Traditional old pub that has become known for excellent food with good but sensible portions. You wont leave hungry. Recommend booking for food. Dont expect modern or posh but worth a visit for the food
Really nice pub, and first time calling in. Large spacious venue and we used the pub for an impromptu meeting. Good range of beers and lagers and a decent size food menu. All the meals we had were very good and no complaints. The staff were also very helpful. Only thing to note is that parking is limited to around 10 places so much of the parking is on the road side. I did notice that disabled parking is right by the front door.
You can not beat the Chequers Inn in Whiston for its Sunday dinners. Not only is the food great but the service there is second to none. Ring and book a table and they will enquire as to which meat you will be wanting with your meal. Then you are greater at the door, shown to your table, your first drinks are brought to you and your meal arrives two minutes later. Perfection.
It's the best Sunday dinner in Rotherham without a doubt and has some great meals although limited options on weekdays

Went for a mid week evening meal with a catch up with some friends. Staff very helpful. From ordering to receiving our meal we didnt wait long . Lovely food . Nice atmosphere
Having read previous comments on how good the Sunday dinner is we went to try it. What a massive disappointment. Seating was a pain, it took forever. Then the food, which was pre ordered took 20minutes to arrive after being seated. The Yorkshire pudding was disgusting, they were all hard as rock and tasted burnt. They were replaced by better ones, still not great. Looking around many diners were leaving them hardly touched. The veg was undercooked. No mash available for a Sunday dinner and you don't get stuffing with chicken! Overall the meal was very bland, won't be going back.
A group of us ate here, all the food was amazing! Large portions, real food not mass produced microwaved, tasty and reasonable prices. Definitely coming back!
Went last week for a Sunday roast, staff were lovely, the amount of food you got was great and the vegetables we're delicious, unfortunately the meat was terrible, the beef and pork was extremely dry and crumbled like tuna, very strange texture for meat.
