Went there on a sunny and warm April’s day for lunch. The place is cozy, very relaxed and has a great terrasse. They only serve bottled beer but allow you to buy draft beer from the place next door. We were a group of five and ended up ordering all sides, a burrata, cheese sandwiches and a baked Tunworth. We booked a table which proved a good idea as the place was buzzing.
Whether you want a fresh tomato mozzarella salad or a proper mac'n cheese, this is the place! varied menu although everything is cheese based nice terrace facing the port and Margate beach/city center the cheese toastie is a must have
Wonderful location, beautiful views overlooking the beach, the most amazing local cheese board with all the trimmings. Great beer. Plenty of free water cold and fresh and lovely helpful staff. Loved it, will go again. And the olives with nuts were Devine! Thank you cheesy tiger! X
As soon as I walked in and asked for a cider and a beer the blonde lady serving told us we better go next door, confused, I said we would like to stay and ordered a couple of drinks. After taking the payment she claimed there was not food available for us as we didn't have a booking, I thought that was weird but we just sat down and enjoyed our drinks in the sun. We then noticed everyone that arrived and sat down next to us were greeted with a happy face and handed in a menu with no warning. We left disappointed of such a bad attitude a shame as we were looking forward to try their food. I guess if they don't want new clients or customers they don't know they should just put a warning or note outside.
Went into here a few months back, asked what food they had and they said they where only serving cheesy sandwiches with scallops and filling. I do not like scallops so i passed. I then asked for a bottle of still water and was told you did not have any of that either and then i was told i would probably be better off next door........I said no ill take a bottle of sparkling water and left. Just be aware when you say your better off next door at the rowdy loud bar next door it itself is a indirect insult that your establishment is too good for me, and i see another comment with exact same thing so if this is for a select group make membership, do not insult locals because they have walked in and do not like the one item you was serving that evening.
Fabulous cheesy eatery on the harbour wall. Great service, small and cosy, with friendly staff...and delicious select menu! It changes, so do check. We had padron peppers, cured meats, followed by a baked Tamworth cheese, sourdough toast and crispy new roasties. Great wine to go with as well! Advisable to book to make sure you get a seat :
Oh my days, the cheesy goodness is amazing! The tomato salad with burrata was device, loved the classic cheese toasty too. Lots of vegetarian options and a broad wine list. Also fantastic view over Margate.
We had an incredible meal sitting on the bar. The grilled cheese sandwich was incredible and the Mac and cheese to die for! To top it all the wine was delish. We haven’t stopped talking about the meal since, everyone must go!
Great little place with indoor and outdoor seating. V cosy inside - open kitchen and plenty of helpful staff. Wine list was great - finally an orange wine I like. Food: Jaysus. The cauliflower soup was unreal. Deep fried Sage leaves and hazelnuts to garnish. Show stopper. We basically ordered one of everything and it was all brilliant. A great combination of simple slap up cheese toasties and haute cuisine. Already planning my next visit. Be prepared to squeeze past people - it's cosy up in there.
Well what can I say? Stumbled across this little gem whilst being blown around margate on a windy weekend. Popped in to what looked like a new age smugglers grotto and realised quickly it was in fact a kitchen, offering an invitation to an amazing party in my mouth! Tried to book a table for dinner but all they could do was 4:30pm as they were so busy but to be honest I would have their ragu anytime of the day or night it was that good. Also tried their wild mushroom and black truffle risotto *pinch me I'm dreaming* and finished off with a spectacular cheese board, something soft, chilli jam too, something hard and something blue Everything was washed down with a lovely Gran Cerdo Tempranillo whilst watching an amazing sunset. The Turner contemporary may be just round the corner, but the art here tastes better.
