I'd gone here based on the recommendations I'd seen and decided it would be a great place to take a friend to celebrate her birthday. Was not disappointed. Lovely everything, food, atmosphere and staff. I would say that because I treated a friend and split the bill with the other guest attending I've marked the price per person as high. That's not really the case and I think like anywhere it depends on what you have and how you split the bill. You could actually eat and drink here for a very reasonable price. If I'm ever back in the area I'd definitely go again and also recommend this to anybody looking for a lively venue. We'd gone for early dinner but I'm sure other times of the day would be great too. Advisable to book as it did fill up quite quickly.
Great atmosphere and location. Cod loin portion is very small but very good. The hot plate was delicious, the fish and chips were nice. I would recommend ordering an extra tartar sauce with your food. The buoy bowl was delicious as well. I would also recommend Pale Ale Mary as it fits perfectly with the sea food. Cheers Food: 4/5
I was looking for restaurants in Margate beach area and this tops the list for one of the best fish and chips. I am totally amazed by the fluffiness and the batter used to fry the fish. Totally top my list for one of the best fried fish ever. The seafood platter was cooked to perfection. Overall, amazing service and good food and do book in advance for coming here. Glad to be able to dine here with fantastic view of the beach.
We had a lovely lunch at Buoy and Oyster, would definitely return! Starters were so delicious, we had the clam and haddock chowder 10/10! and the small portion of mussels. For main I had the halibut which was cooked perfectly, the butter sauce was rich and decadent and I also ordered a side of samphire. My husband had the buoy bowl which was also great and very filling! We sampled the local Chapel Down wine, both the sparkling and flint dry, both excellent and reasonably priced for a restaurant of this standard. Service was relaxed and friendly, perfect for a Saturday trip to the seaside.
Was expecting exceptional seafood considering the location and the reviews. It’s a beautiful restaurant overlooking the seafront and we were greeted by very friendly staff. We ordered the crab and the hot seafood platter which looked delicious. The mussels however were not fresh and the prawns were just missing a bit of flavour. Potential to be great seafood eatery, just a little style over substance.
Today is romantic Valentine day! Luckily I can book a place for wonderful time with my family. Hot seafood platter is absolutely recommended and local crab is excellent. There is no words to order oysters. But I don't satisfied with cocktail and chilled sea food platter.
Food is outstanding. Service isn’t hugely attentive but they are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The kitchen is viewable and you can watch the magic happening! Excellent to see.. great selection of seafood. It is on the dearer side but it’s worth every penny. Even got a crab to take away for my husband Parking: There’s ‘Ringo’ parking out the front for around 8 vehicles but there’s car parking near Wheelchair accessibility: ramp into the restaurant.. toilet is by the entrance. Wheelchair friendly. I personally didn’t use one on this visit but my son uses a wheelchair and am conscious of things like this.
Tasty food, convivial atmosphere and outstanding service! We’d booked for 2.30pm for bar-room space, but we arrived at 1.30pm cold and hungry, and the lovely front-of-house lady managed to find us a regular table. We were luckily enough to be served by Sam, who took all of our frequent requests - tap water, extra glasses of wine etc - promptly, in his stride. Battered pickles to nibble, followed by the trusty Buoy bowl for one of us, halibut with wild mushrooms and spinach for the other. We chose two cheeses to round it all off - great to have a choice! - washed down with a glass of ruby port. We are fish lovers, but we noted that there is a vegan menu, should you need it. We’ve now experienced this place in summer terrace and winter on our regular visits to Margate, and we’ll definitely be back. Well done to all concerned .
It’s a beautiful restaurant on the top of Margate cliff coastline, with a wonderful view looking towards the Bay. You can enjoy the terrace as well if you book in advance. Good customer service. Food wise, I could agreed with five stars only if mussels didn’t have shallot on it. Changed completely the taste of it. Less is more!
What a fantastic place! We sat on the balcony, there is fantastic view and you can choose if you want sun or shade. The service was 100%, I don't think they have dedicated waitress's for specific tables but each and everyone of the girls 4 of them served our table were simply superb. The meal arrived we had the hot seafood platter and it was to die for. I did question the fact that we did not get the oysters and immediately they said they would get them sent out, I then realised I had made a mistake the oysters were not in shells but had been cooked in batter they were lovely. We will certainly return. Big thanks to the Buoy and Oyster for a lovely afternoon.
