Nice atmosphere and the shops I visited were very friendly.nnClean and tidy, saw some council workers tidying rubbish and painting stuff.nnHard to find free parking but possible if you drive round a bit and look.
The centre was clean and tidy. Lots of closed down shops and not much choice. However I could get most of what I needed. Hopefully the town will grow in time. The food hall is really good and the garden in the centre near Clinton's card shop is a really nice place to sit
This is more a review on the town center as a whole, rather than just charter walk as I think it would be fair and honest that way.nnPositives :- clean, with very little rubbish around, especially in charter walk area. Good selection of shops from large high Street chains like next and primark, and plenty of places to eat. I especially like the indoor mini food court inside the old market area.nnThere is a once a month artisan market which is great for the town and brings in, so it seems, more footfall on those days and can only be a good thing for the local economy.nnLocal Burnley people are and have always been a very friendly bunch. And never refuse to help others.nnNegatives:-nnThe local junkies, drunks and thieves that plague the town center are the absolute worst. They sit mainly around mcdonalds and do nothing but sit around screaming, shouting, swearing and intimidating anyone wishing to enter. This is not a good look.nnWe never see police patrols, and if we do, it usually pcso patrols that ignore them and walk on by. Why are they not removed from the area and placed on a ban from entering? I and others have said numerous times that they drag the town down and nothing is done.nnWould you, if you we're an investor, after walking round town, want to invest here when thieves, drunks, drug addled lowlife, surround the area? I would simply invest elsewhere, somewhere I'm not going to have to deal with the multude of thieves and druggies.nnThen come the massive groups of kids hanging around, kicking balls everywhere and anywhere or speeding around on bikes, electric scooters, swearing and threatening anyone that dares to intervene. How is this allowed? In my youth if police saw large groups they would be all over them splitting them up and moving them on. It's not like we don't have the or four large parks in the surrounding area for them to hang around and play football, but no, they hang round a town center.nWith little to no police presence this will not change. Why on earth are parents allowing their kids to hang around the town and just make everyone's life awful is beyond me.nnAnother thing, why are pubs allowed to serve alcohol first thing in the morning? I see people waiting for the boot and others to open, then sit there all day getting wasted? No wonder there is an alcoholism problem. This is only exacerbated with nicer weather as they then sit outside the pubs drinking, again further intimidating people leaving work or potential people wishing to shop.nnBut for all the negatives Burnley town center and charter walk could be a lot worse, and there are worse areas in Lancashire. And the nice locals far out weight the bad elements.nnThe new cinema and nandos can only help in increasing the betterment of the center as a whole and hopefully one day will better the town as a whole.
Great selection of shops, clean and clear walkways in good repair, decent opening hours, really nice location. Plenty of open space so even when busy there's room to move around.
Fairly standard town center shopping area. It was busy on my visit, due to the monthly Artisan Food and Crafts Market.nThere was a clear presence of security personnel and there was no sign of any trouble or objectionable behavior by any other groups.
