Story

Char’s retail shop in Winchester opened its doors to tea lovers in August 2006. Our mission is first to bring you the very best teas from China, India and around the world at the very best prices and second make tea buying at Char a happy event.

Our professional buyers work closely with the growers and we import directly where we can. However, in the case of most perfumed teas there are specialist perfuming houses whom we appoint whether they be in England or on the continent. In this way we ensure that we bring you the very best from the very best. Our tasting and analysis of Assam and Darjeelings is undertaken for us by Phil Bayley to whom we are most grateful. Phil’s expertise is beyond question. He spent 32 years as a tea planter in Assam and has all the knowledge that only expertise combined with experience brings.

Teas can be purchased from our retail shop in Winchester, online and by phone. Orders are usually despatched within 24 hours of receipt. We use re-zippable bags to send your tea; the best possible storage method for all teas, keeping freshness locked in.
