Central Ymca

It's become like a council run leisure centre. I paid full membership to use it as I pleased but so much of it is sub let ,and at the expense of the members at times the pool is little better than a bath tub,the cafe relaxation area like a crèche. Unattended children, surly youths not worth the membership. So many friends have left because its no longer run fir its members. It use to be such a special place once ...but no more.

Central YMCA has transformed my life. I’ve been here over 100 times since October 2021. I attend the Positive Health classes and other classes. Jade Flannagan’s spin classes are a good tough warmup. Shun-Yin takes yoga ‍ classes that I go to every week. My personal trainer for the past few years is Theresa Waite who is excellent. I have also enjoyed art and Spanish courses. I recommend Daniel Cristiano’s Spanish classes. The staff are friendly and helpful at all times. I’m an off peak member and I find that I rarely have to wait to get on the resistance machines or free weights. The gym is not intimidating. There’s a library and a special place for prayer that I use as a chill out room. There’s a good swimming ‍ pool with a steam room, sauna and lots of classes. I can finally do a front crawl. There are tables and booths where I relax, attend to my business on my computer , listen to music, read Penguin Classics and watch films. It really is a social club and very conveniently in Central London. Finally, Central YMCA has a great cafe called Wraps and More run by a very lovely Egyptian lady who serves huge portions of healthy food at very reasonable prices. Try her special Egyptian soup , it’s amazing. Join and enjoy.

The YMCA is still as good as it’s ever been. I just hope they are getting enough people back into its premises to keep it running as smoothly as before Covid. The cafe is serving really nice food which I encourage everybody to try- an absolute treat at affordable prices

Just joined recently and found the staff to be very friendly and extremely helpful. The facilities are first class. There's a varied selection of fitness classes to get you started. And the swimming pool is magnificent, 25m. and not crowded during this period of pandemic restrictions. The pity is the cafe is not open just now.

Brilliant central London gym with a huge range of great activities and studio classes, well-equipped gym floor with all the latest kit, nice cafe/hangout areas, a big swimming pool. Staff are friendly and helpful and despite being absolutely massive, the club has a nice community feel. Management are very efficient: changing rooms are very clean with good hot showers, Parlux hairdryers and hair straighteners there is a small rental charge for towels and anything that breaks around the club is quickly repaired. If you're not a position to join, you can buy day passes on the payasugym app. Highly recommended.

This is a great gym with everything you could wish for. Friendly staff and clients, huge changing rooms, every equipment you need, classes, big swimming pool steam room and sauna. Relaxing cafe, prayer/meditation room. Well worth it.

Nice gymn with pool, steam & dry sauna, there's space to stretch, a good variety of equipment & nice studios. Only thing is i don't think there are any sprung floor studios Friendly reception Towels to rent It's clean Great location Cafe lounge area

so so. an emergency solution for a gym. kinda dirty.

Huge gym, great staff. Nice and peaceful so you can get on and do your thing. Loads of classes too if you’re into that.
