Attended the restaurant last week for their 3 course restaurant week offer. Having had some excellent food from Tomahawk in previous restaurant weeks, I was really disappointed with the offering this time. The starters were probably the best part of the meal, they arrived quickly and were good. My partner and I had steak for our main. Mine was room temp at best and served blue when I asked for medium rare. I asked for it to be cooked further and it returned 5 minutes later looking much the same but a bit warmer. We both had the brownies for dessert which again were disappointing. We waited a while for this to be served and it was so bland and dry we didn’t finish it. It tasted like someone had completely missed the chocolate out, heated it up and left it on the side for 20 minutes before serving. The ‘bueno’ ice cream it was served with tasted like cheap vanilla ice cream. Service was mostly okay, we could see our server was doing his best considering the business and temperature but we had to request cutlery and water twice. The restaurant itself was boiling hot, I can’t imagine how it must have been for the staff when the customers were sat fanning themselves with menus. A couple of fans to cool the place down for the staff would have been a nice touch.
Excellent 3 course Sunday lunch, started with chicken liver pate, salad, chutney and warm bread, beef Sunday lunch and every element of the dish was outstanding, strawberry creme brulee for after with one of the best shortbread biscuits I've ever had. From start to finish the food and service was first class. Definitely recommending this place to everyone I know. Kid-friendliness: Suitable for children of all ages, lovely atmosphere. Parking: Car park on site.
Booked the 'Holy Island' room for an overnight stay. Enjoyed a fabulous steak meal in the restaurant with attentive/ helpful staff. Room fantastic with feature bath. A great night sleep, topped off with a great full English breakfast. Would highly recommend.
Our mains came but they brought chips instead of the mash ordered, they apologised took the chips away but left the steak and veg, by the time they brought the mash the rest was cold so again they took it away to re heat leaving the mash so had to cover it or it would get cold. The food itself was OK certainly had better steaks in my life considering the price. Rest of meal was very good but staff are young and not professional and when bill came they had the cheek to automatically add 10%! When we left no one said thanks or goodbye they were just on their phones and hardly acknowledge us.
The place was rammed when we arrived, and we must have been standing for 5/10 minutes before we were acknowledged and seated. From there the service improved massively, our servers being attentive and prompt and really nice. We opted for the 3 course for £20.00, and the food was so plentiful, tasty, good quality and hot. We wondered how it was possible they could make a profit from it. The two hours we were there flew by and we all thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Tomahawk. We'll definitely come again, and try the ala carte menu next time. Thanks
We stayed on Saturday the hotel room was beautiful, spacious with a large shower and bath tub!! Staff were all lovely very attentive. We had steak in restaurant which is definitely the best we have ever had Can’t fault it We will define be back Thank you for a lovely stay x
Decided to visit as we pass often when I looked on website it said lunch menu until 6.30! It was bank holiday queens funeralso I asked if it was on as it was ten to five. Waiter said no only on until 5pm. I enjoyed my rump steak but my partner who asked for medium rare said his was raw and the batter on his onion rings also raw. The waiter said we could remove service charge, so a little disappointed but would still return!
Arrived early but got our table while stilĺ beinģ served at bar even although it was busy. However, that unfortunately was the last of the positives.. Meal arrived after 20 minutes, but mash had to be sent back as it was clay cold. Seasonal vegetables was red cabbage, which no one liked, no other choice, even though diners before and after us had 2 different cabbage dishes. Vegetable offering was fairly sparse with our 4 diner table having same 4 dishes as tables with 2 diners. 2 of our company had pork dinner and although it had pork crackling advertised on menu, it was not present on meal. 2 had Wagyu ?? Beef. To be honest, I've tasted better brisket. To be blunt, the meal was over priced, and we have had better fare, more choice and a tastier meal, in the local boozer, without having to travel miles to get there. Most disappointing, For a Sunday lunch, £16 a head, main meal, not counting extras at approx £5 a portion, even with the economy going to the dogs as it is. This was waaaay too expensive.
We decided to have a Barnacre Alpacas team Christmas breakfast and our party of 7 had a fab time. Danielle looked after us, service, food and surroundings were fantastic. Highly recommend!Service: 5/5
Celebrated our Valentines here on Sat 4/2/23 as it was the only kidfree opportunity this month. We had previously been to the "Newcastle Quayside" location for a brilliant experience. So expectations were high! And I'm very glad to say it was amazing! We were greeted by lovely smiley staff and seated straight away at our choice of multiple tables. Drinks order within a couple of minutes, food order taken on delivery of drinks. The food was excellent. Squid n Korean fish to start, soz photos missing. Then wagu burgers, fries, onion rings and cheese n brisket hash for sides! !!! This is THE BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD from anywhere in the world !!! The sides were awesome also but the beef stole the show! Must try for yourself!! 5/5
