Our carpet was due to arrive on 10th Jan at 11oclock this was confirmed the previous day . Stripped the room ready and waited 11 o’clock came ,12 o’clock so rang and was told that a check would be made and I would get a call .No call, rang again no answer eventually rang the Fareham branch they checked gave me the drivers phone number so found out the carpet would be here at 4.30 . So wasted a whole day waiting unnecessarily. Lack of communication and no apology . Customers should not have to do all the chasing not happy although carpet fitters were great .
This is the first time I have made a review but felt so strongly to write it. Would I recommend this store, unfortunately not. The only reason it has one star is because of the sales assistant at the Waterlooville branch who did his best to help me but said his hands were “tied”! Such a shame as I thought I would help out the local high street store. Purchasing the carpet was fine, but that’s where it ended. They have fitters who are a law unto themselves, and I had booked two weeks prior to have my carpet fitted. When the date arrived, any sign of carpet fitter … NO, telephone call to say couldn’t come … NO. What a waste of an entire day and weekend removing all the furniture! I was then told by the store they didn’t know when it would be fitted! This was holiday I had planned to decorate my room with furniture arriving 3 days later! Don’t bother complaining to their head office in Fareham either, as the guy I spoke to who said he “used to be a manager”??? was as helpful as an automated telephone message … need I say more. After much stress, carpet has been fitted but no apology for not turning up on the day I had booked! As per another review on here, good luck with any recompense!!
Much like the other dissatisfied customers the customer service at best is appalling. Had a number of carpets in the past with no problem. 1st fit, couldn't go ahead because van had broken down. Then 3 no shows the following week. No communication whatsoever and all the guy was interested in doing was slayting his fellow worker called Gavin. He told me to 'calm down' and 'take a breath '. How dare he when the shop knew I had work that day and worked my clients around them. And again the following week!! My husband even went into the shop on the Friday, where they had the bare faced cheek to say they knew nothing about it and we were promised fitters that afternoon. Nothing!!! Then when he confirmed fitters for the following Monday this is now 10 days later! I'm almost made to feel grateful! All the while I'm trying to support a local business and I wish I hadn't bothered. The only reason we waited was because we wanted the carpet to match the rest of the carpet in the house. Never again. I am waiting for a call to discuss some form of recompense.... can't see that happening.
Not the first time we have purchased from Carpet news. While they have a good stock of carpet, the service was ... Unhelpful to be polite. The communication between themselves, the fitters, and us was very poor. We ended up getting a separate fitters in who would do the job for us, instead of making excuses
I have had lots of carpets from here. Told my family. Who also had there whole houses done. My friend also had carpets fitted. Mary was amazing. Phoned two weeks ago for a measure. Was booked never showed. Tryed to phone shop closed. Then came a week later and measured. Tryed again to get quote. Manager said really busy. Working from Fareham. I had sample of carpet. He told me no. You need to come in. Cause we have three different carpets of that make. He was not bothered. Went somewhere else. Knew exactly what carpet I was talking about. Came same day measured. Phoned later with price. Carpet coming in a week. Miss you Mary. And goodbye carpet news. Customer service rubbish.
We ordered a new living room carpet from this shop. Staff very unhelpful. Developed a serious attitude problem when we didn't want to use their overpriced fitters. The lady in the shop doesn't know how to measure a carpet so we had to pay extra over the phone later that day. She was extremely rude when we collected the carpet. Have since been told by friends not to use this shop. Disgusting service for such a simple job. Avoid.
After the carpet fitters left we had a damaged wall which had just been decorated and a damaged bed this was the only thing in the room to be moved. When I phoned the shop there was no apology and poor customer service. The lady on the phone said that they ask for the room to be clear, this was not stated when ordering the carpet and there is no way the bed could have been removed from the room without dismantling and it. Other companies we have used in the past have fitted carpets around large furniture. I won't be using this company again!
Just had living room carpet done by Carpet News. Service from start to finish has been excellent. Great service picking some samples in the shop, great and quick fitting and the carpet is excellent quality. Will definitely be using again for any future jobs.
Terrible customer service, was told they didn't have the carpet I ordered on the day of fitting!! Asked for my money back, which seemed to be a problem! We eventually settled for a different carpet as was given a date to be fitted 3 days before Christmas which i had to take as my elderly mother was coming to stay. We were told the carpet would have to have a join it looks terrible in short the carpet is less than a year old and needs replacing.
Bad attitude, unhelpful and cowboy style customer service when faced with a problem. I ordered for all the rooms on my second floor to be carpeted, including the stairs. Once fitted, the carpet literally started coming away from the floor, no problem, Carpet News re-stretched them, great. Then the carpet came away from the stairs and landing again and I noticed a substantial sized slit in one of the carpets in one of the rooms. Carpet News told me the carpet must be de-laminated and ordered a new one to be fitted. Great. They also told me the slit in the carpet must have been done by heavy furniture. I wasn't living in the property at the time and no furniture had been put in that room. They would not accept this, it was my fault and they would not look at it. On stair carpet being replaced it too started falling apart. Carpet News told me that it was because I had chosen a cheap carpet and too thick an underlay. Surely things they as experts should advise their customers on. They still would not accept that the slit in the carpet was not my fault and had clearly been done by the fitter. After months of battling with the unhelpful, defensive and rude manager I was ready to instruct an ombudsman, when I finally got hold of the owner, who eventually put right the bad product and service they had provided. On lifting the carpet with the slit, it was evident the fitter had cut it and had even taped up the underside in a bid to prevent it getting any worse. In total this process took 4 months to sort and countless phonecalls and visits to the store. AVOID!
