Here’s a sharper, much angrier version while keeping it coherent and impactful:nnUtterly deceitful parking system. It’s deliberately set up to catch people out – the car park looks like a standard ANPR system, yet you’re expected to check in at a machine on arrival. Miss the poorly placed or unclear signage and you’re instantly set up to fail. There’s no realistic way to fix the mistake either – the intercom goes unanswered, there’s no option to back-pay, and they will absolutely hit you with a ticket.nI actually tried to do the right thing. I paid for two full days at a cost of £17 in an attempt to correct my error. I came back to my car expecting some level of common sense or fairness, only to find a ticket anyway. Any reasonable person would recognise the effort I made to resolve the situation – but clearly this company has no interest in reason.nDespite already paying £17, my appeal was flatly rejected. No understanding, no discretion – just a demand for an additional £25. They completely ignored my request to simply pay the difference. Instead of fairness, they chose to double down and extract even more money.nTo make matters worse, the appeal response came from some generic digital source in Sheffield, which strongly suggests the entire process is handled by an automated system rather than an actual human being capable of judgment. It’s impersonal, cynical, and clearly designed to maximise revenue rather than treat customers fairly.nThe end result? My honest mistake – and genuine attempt to fix it – has cost me £42. Ironically, I would have been better off doing nothing and just paying the £25 penalty. That says everything about how broken and exploitative this system is.nAbsolutely disgraceful.

DO NOT USE THIS CAR PARK UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE REGULATIONS.  The instructions appear to be deliberately difficult to understand as a way of the council making money out of innocent people.  I thought I had parked in accordance with the instructions for a weekend visit but apparently I should have been returning to my car at 6.00 AM each day to renew my parking.  Ended up with a £50 fine on top of the parking fee - PLEASE USE ALTERNATIVE PARKING AND STOP LINING THE COUNCIL'S POCKETS.  Next time for a weekend visit I will use the station car park - just wish I had done so on this visit.

Be mindful when you park overnight to check, double check and maybe check again the board and the parking charges. I parked overnight but didn't realise that I had to re-new my ticket at 6am! When I came back to my vehicle I had a Parking fine even though a ticket was displayed! I paid for my Parking, nearly £12 and challenged it only to be told that the conditions are on the board. I paid the fine, £25 but also paid for Parking! Wokingham Borough Council are corrupt and I paid over £37 for what should have been £12. Be aware!!!

Utterly deceitful parking system - the car park is setup like an ANPR but you have to check in at the machine when you arrive. If you miss the signs, you won’t be able to fix it as nobody answers the intercom, you can’t back pay and you WILL get a ticket.nI tried and paid 2 whole days at £17, got back to my car, found a ticket which I believed anyone would understand my mistake, and the lengths I’d gone to to correct it. Despite paying £17, the appeal was denied and they heartlessly demanded an addition £25 from me and ignored my request to pay the difference. The appeal response came from a digital source in Sheffield so clearly an AI is deployed to manage it. It’s a disgrace that my mistake, and attempt to correct it, cost me £42. I needn’t have bothered and got away with £25.nDISGUSTING

Wokingham council are cowboys. The most confusing parking system ever with check in and check out that does not work overnight despite large notices stating a 24 hour charge. So checked in New Year’s Eve pm and tried to check out 10 am the next morning to find I’d already been charged for the previous day! I also had a parking fine on my car for New Year’s Day. There was info about this anomaly but in writing I couldn’t read without reading glasses that I didn’t have with me! My appeal of an honest mistake rejected by greedy council and will never go there again!
