Our experience at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, particularly in the Lion Ward, has been exceptional. The level of care, compassion, and professionalism displayed by the pediatric team is truly commendable. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome, reassured, and confident that our child was in the best possible hands.nnThe nurses and doctors in the Lion Ward are not only highly skilled but also incredibly kind and attentive. They took the time to explain every step of the treatment plan and were always available to answer our questions, no matter how small. Their ability to connect with children, putting them at ease during what can be a stressful time, is remarkable.nnThe facilities in the Lion Ward are clean, child-friendly, and well-equipped, creating a comforting environment for both children and their families. The thoughtful touches, such as colorful decorations and activities to keep children entertained, make a big difference in creating a positive atmosphere.nnWhat stood out the most was the genuine care and dedication of the staff. They went above and beyond to ensure not just the medical needs but also the emotional well-being of our child and the family. It’s clear that this ward operates with the highest standards of pediatric care.nnWe are incredibly grateful for the outstanding support provided by the Lion Ward and the entire team at Royal Berkshire Hospital. They turned a challenging situation into one of hope and healing. Highly recommended for anyone seeking top-quality pediatric care!
I always had good experiences at RBH until I got a Spinal Cord Injury. I was there for a couple of weeks when I was first injured so I was close to home, had to go back to JR in Oxford as they let me get infections in open wounds and didn't care for me considering I had just become paralysed from the waist down.nnI went to A&E this week as I was having bladder issues which can become serious if not dealt with and was told to go by my GP. After 6 hours of waiting just to see a doctor, I was told they wouldnt treat me because I had a spinal cord injury.nI then asked to be transferred to either JR or Stoke Mandeville and was told to they couldnt do that. I then asked if I could at least have transport home it was 4am and they were reluctant to do that. They basically wanted a paralysed wheelchair user to make their own way home to the otherside of Reading in -5 temperatures.nnThe waiting room was also full of homeless people drinking cider, charging their phones and drunk people being dumped by police.nnI understand they were under immense pressure that night but to be completely dismissed when something small can become life threatening and not offering any assistance is just barbaric. Animals get treated better than I did.nnI will never go to that place again and will insist on going to the hospitals that will look after me even though they are over an hour away.
A big kidney stone and the later-inserted stent had caused terrible pain and discomfort, I was able to have broken sleep no more than 3-4 hours a day for 5 weeks. I had the stone removed at the Adult Day Surgery in RBH yesterday, and now feel like a completely different person!nnFrom the reception desk, pre-operation bay, operating theatre, recovery ward to the discharge area and from start to finish, the service was exceptional. More than 12 staff were involved in the care: the receptionist, nurses, operating theatre staff, anesthetist, Dr Johanna Thomas all showed great professionalism, and are kind and friendly. I am 64, this was my first time being in a proper operating theatre which was quite scary at first. The staff in the theatre, in particular the lady anesthetist, helped me calm down quickly and the experience turned out to be much easier. I also felt well supported in the recovery room where a young lady nurse don’t know her name was particularly kind. Dr Johanna Thomas is always clam, assuring and kind-spoken.nnSarah at Urology was supportive and communicated well in the whole process in scheduling/rescheduling the surgery.nnThe whole team have delivered more than a job. Thank you!
There is a paramedic named Spencer Winch, who does the job a GP or Emergency Medicine Consultant should be doing within the A&E department I suspect he is only working in the A&E department for economical reasons, who is the only clinician I have ever come across in all my life that records consultations with his mobile phone, and I think I know why - he has a habit of making the most horrific entries in people's clinical records. In my honest opinion, there is something extremely sinister about this individual, and he should be struck off. Avoid like the plague.
Worst A&E department longest wait so far 16 hours, and to make it worse have pigeons just walking around crapping on the floors, turning into some sort of third world hospital!!! Staff are happy just to lie to your face, just go to Oxford hospital as way better, no wildlife and the staff actually care
