got bloods taken today which usually make me faint well before any needles come anywhere near me! Pam and Carole were absolute saints in calming my nerves and talking me through the procedure. i was so well looked after that i didn’t faint! and they proceeded to check in on me afterwards when in the waiting room. a great experience for something that usually is traumatising:
I have never experienced a medical practice that is as incompetent and apathetic as this one. I honestly wish I could give Carden Medical 0 stars. Near enough every interaction I have had with both doctors and the receptionists have been extremely poor - I consistently have to remind them that some recommended medications I cannot take due to my type 1 diabetes which they should be aware of considering it is clearly stated in the patient notes. Their treatment regarding mental health worries is absolutely appalling- there have been too many instances where you are scheduled for a call with the doctor, however, the call never comes, or submitting an e-consult and it instructing you to call 111 or 999 unless you go back and change some of the answers to suggest you are healthier - it's just not viable. Instead, the patients are constantly chasing the practice up - it can get exhausting. It is sad as it seems like they just don't care.
This is the first negative review I have felt needed to be left. The reception team, nurse practitioner, physio and two of the Doctors are great which has earned back a star from what would have been none. However, the majority of my recent experiences have been disappointing if not utterly unhelpful or even outright confrontational. I have been a patient here since childhood but when the GP Partnership ended it has been one thing after another in a trail of horrendously poor service. I have submitted a formal complaint, another first, if new owners 2C Social Enterprise Group can turn things around I am more than happy to update my review. Whilst there are some good GPs at the practice you cannot get appointments with them and this is no use when you need urgent care. Ultimately if you can't get help and care when you need it then the GP Practice is not delivering. The E Consult Service particularly when all appointments were required to be booked this way is unworkable. Now it's just for urgent care it leaves a bitter taste as it is not fit for purpose continuously instructing you to call 111 or 999 unless you back track and claim to be healthy. The system is also not suitable for chronic illness or existing diagnosed conditions. The worst part is after 30-40 minutes of repeating your answers across multiple identical sections if it decides you're too ill to be seen at your practice none of this is saved unless as above you reduce your answers effectively saying there is nothing wrong. For those with chronic illness or diagnosed conditions needing regular support being unable to contact a GP who is familiar with your medical history isn't workable. The constant repetition of your medical history and different opinions from GPs on treatment, misreading or frankly not reading notes makes each encounter torturous. It can be worse when a GP is dismissive or doesn't understand your condition despite specialists making care recommendations. In short, if you have options to use another practice it is best to do so. Things may improve under new management but it won't happen overnight and I don't imagine the existing Doctors that are a big part of the problem will be going anywhere in the near future as they will be contracted to the practice.
A few doctors there are all right but generally not the best experience with this practice. Staff members sometimes quite rude over the phone and don't seem to care much... Multiple calls needed to get simple things done. Some doctors are disinterested in listening to a patient, almost bored and you can feel them just rushing you out the door. They are good at printing prescriptions and getting rid of you ASAP, though. Plus a nurse drawing my blood on two occassions didn't even bother to wear gloves or disinfect the skin beforehand... I'll leave it at that. Edit: I haven't used their services for 2 years but being unable to treat myself this time I tried to make an appointment with a doctor for my red, angry, raw, painful, cystic sudden acne-like rash covering my entire face, ears & neck. I was offered a nurse appointment.... a week from now... So yeah... I'll stick to treating myself by myself, like I always have to. There is no choice in the matter of your own health and they are denying you a right to even speak to a doctor for 5 minutes. Awful people, zero compassion. Unless you're having a heart attack, don't call. Especially if you're from abroad you're not welcome.
This used to be a good surgery when it was partner run but since it’s been centralised back under NHS it’s an absolute disgrace. The doctors can’t be bothered and fob you off asking you to call answer services or fill out e-consult or go to pharmacy, anything but actually speak with you themselves. I’ve had prescriptions wrong and dismissed. Hate this practice now, they basically cannot be bothered to help. Disgrace!!!
They don't care about people. : To get an appointment you have to go through a on line booking system that takes time and doesn't work well it takes several tries to be able to make it sometimes. Some of the doctors are not kind and in a hurry and they don't listen. Zero empathy. Which is a shame if you think about the period we live in.
If I could give 0 stars I honestly would as they dont even deserve 1 star. Left my son seriously ill and refused point blank to see him, to the point he ended up in the high dependency unit on the edge of needing ICU in glasgow. If you're looking for a surgery that is medically negligent and couldn't care less, this is the place to be!
Very poor, reception has a bad attitude and won't even do the slightest task without moaning wants you to do everything online for her , as for the place waited over 2 years to get a lump seen still not seen all they seem worried about is repeat prescriptions to get their money from the government rather than actually providing care
Hi I am not one for calling doctors but I am very disappointed with the treatment or lack of it the receptionist could not have been sweeter but I waited all day for the doctor to call apparently it went to voicemail why they couldn’t just call on the mobile everybody else can get through so back to square one I will go to the local chemist for advice tomorrow sorry to be so negative but not feeling to good and it’s not the first time or the second come to think of it that I have felt worse after calling the doctors but I worry if I really do have an emergency what to do ?
I've been with this practice since I was a child. Just tried to get an appointment and was told that the earliest that I could see a doctor was 30th October. I've developed a sleep disorder which after some investigation it turns out that this disorder could be RBD which could lead to the onset of Parkinsons disease. Needless to say I'm not very impressed. Time to look for another practice.
