Where do I start?nnHaving ridden bikes my whole life, I've dealt with many dealership, sales & service teams and parts departments - albeit by first time wirh a GSA.nnPurchased a new GSA in early 2025 and the service from start to finish was incredible. Streets ahead of any other brand I've bought from over many many years.nnHowever, the sale was just the start - the service ever since has been second to none. Their expertise, professionalism and genuine interest in me as a customer has been truly first class.nnAdvice, guidance and support with a charity motorcycle challenge I'm doing has been incredible. I picked up my new BMW R1300R SE today from Sycamore BMW Witham. It started in September when I spend a morning test riding 3 different bikes. Jimmy was very knowledgable about all the bikes. I felt at ease to decide on my choice,without any high pressure salesman talk. A great experience from start to finish.
BMW Motorrad has a global reputation for high-quality service. Unfortunately, this dealership is a clear outlier and delivers an experience that falls far below BMW standards.nnFrom the initial service booking, the focus appeared to be upselling rather than maintenance. Every interaction revolved around “you need this” or “you need that,” guided by a clearly inexperienced service advisor, Tom E, who demonstrated limited technical knowledge and poor communication throughout.nnAfter the motorcycle was booked in, I was contacted and told the bike required a new battery. When I explained that lithium-ion batteries are known to have reduced cranking performance in cold temperatures, I was first told that my bike did not have a lithium battery. This was later contradicted by being told that the bike had the wrong battery altogether and that it required a “proper” AGM battery costing £230 to operate correctly.nnGiven that a lithium battery could simply be degraded, I asked for basic diagnostic checks: battery discharge at idle and voltage while the engine was running. I was then told that these checks could not be performed without removing the entire battery from the motorcycle — a claim that is technically incorrect. When I challenged this misinformation, the call was abruptly terminated. Subsequent attempts to call back were ignored until another staff member eventually answered and handled the conversation more professionally.nnI have serviced BMW motorcycles across multiple dealerships in both the U.S. and the UK, and this is without question the poorest service experience I have encountered. Since the Sycamore takeover, this dealership appears to have shifted from customer service to aggressive upselling and misinformation — effectively becoming a “stealership.”nnI strongly recommend taking your motorcycle elsewhere. LIND dealerships, in contrast, have consistently provided competent and honest service based on my experiences with their Kawasaki and Harley-Davidson service departments.
Had a winter service at Sycamore’s as they were offering free collection and delivery + 15% off the service cost.nI am a pretty fussy customer where my bike is concerned, but was reassured once I witnessed the care shown by Jimmy Smith one of the sales team with regards to his careful approach.nI would definitely recommend sycamore for your service needs and will happily contact jimmy when looking to order my next new bike.
