Canal House
"Opening in 2000 on the lower floors of the former Canal museum, the Canalhouse is famous for having a canal that extends into the grade II listed building, complete with resident narrow boats. When the sun shines, you’ll find our beautiful canalside beer garden full of happy customers. Our aim is to offer the best beer experience possible, with one of the largest selections of beer in the East Midlands. The Canalhouse currently offers over 250 beers from around the world in bottle and can, alongside up to 6 real ales and 10 keg beers. On the bar you’ll also find a large selection of wines and spirits and up to 6 real ciders. The Canalhouse was one of just two UK venues selected for the brand new Duvel on Tap."

A unique pub in a great location. There aren't many pubs that can say they have part of a canal and a canal boat inside. Quite unique feature, even though it was a bit untidy in the water. The food was excellent. A good choice of meals and light lunches and really good quality with generous portions. A nice outside area with lots of seating and good canal views.
Lovely place, great character, and a great history, but bloody hell, the gents toilets are very poor. The smell absolutely hits you when you walk in of stale urine. Needs some better cleaning with disinfectant! Worst toliets I've ever visited anywhere. I've been in better portaloo's.Food: 5/5
Really enjoyed coming here. This pub is unique with a boat and canal inside. It is situated not far from the train station so great for a drink before catching a train. It is a spacious pub inside and out. Garden back onto the river which is pleasant. The bar had a huge range of beers from Europe. Didn't eat here though just drinks. Staff were friendly and happy to serve us.
Great pub, well designed and a tonne of character. The beer selection is also superb. The service was so-so.Food: 5/5
Nice location just next to canal and 2 mins away from main train station. Very cosy nice place, big seating area. Good service even when they’re very busy. Outdoor seating. Love the idea of a bride inside pub with dreamy lights. They had big variety of craft beer, ales, ciders & wine as well as non alcoholic drinks. Had couple of drinks and enjoyed my food before catch a train.
Fabulously renovated old canal wharfe/warehouse with a narrow boat in the building. An excellent selection of Cask and Keg beers too. Well recommended.Service: 5/5
Really nice place. Good selection of drinks. Some of the small batch ales are a bit pricey, but staff warn you if you choose one!Service: 5/5
Quite a large place where you cross a bridge over a waterway with a barge floating to get to the bar. Great selection of real ales and craft beers. Very busy place. Popped in with friends for a beer. Enjoyed my visit.Service: 5/5
Unique pub worth visiting for its location alone. Also sells loads of ale from keg, cask and bottle. Large canalside area seating. Large inside and done out really well. It’s really nice seeing the barges moored up inside. Serves food. Friendly staff. Went in on a warm Day and it’s lovely and cool inside! Highly recommended
Discriminatory pub with selective action on the law. From other reviews staff are clearly lacking a clear understanding of the law. Do better and don’t be so defensive. Went to the bar with a friend and she was ordering an alcoholic drink. I did not at any point ask to order a drink, I simply asked for a menu. I was told I needed to provide ID before my friend could order a drink, as it was policy and that my friend could potentially be doing a ‘proxy buy’. I complied and brought my ID. I came back to find that another waitress was serving my friend and providing her with an alcoholic drink. I questioned this action, as if you challenge someone to provide ID, you don’t then provide those said people with alcohol without confirming that they are all of age that is the law. When I questioned this they replied with oh well my colleague is doing ‘separate service’ I don’t have anything to do with that. But if this was a so called ‘proxy buy’ like they said, what was to stop my friend in that moment still buying alcohol for me. Your duty under the law and as service providers is to notify all colleagues that you have challenged said people and they are not to be served alcohol until all parties show ID. You were wrong, working against the law and out of order. Furthermore challenging me for a drink when I haven’t even ordered anything is strange behaviour but not challenging any of the other people in the work group.
