Was starving after attending a funeral and happen to pass by on this restaurant.. tried Classic British meals options offered. Enjoyed the meal with my colleagues. Their Value Meals menu is absolutely a deal!
Always go to Penhale Round, the journey is worth it for the service and food, however decided to try Callywith again as our local! Truly wish we had not bothered, very slow service although not busy. Mentioned that steak in smothered platter was left by hubby as disgustingit must have been bad as he is not a fussy eater!!, the Assistant Manager, I think,a.k.a. The lady who cannot smile offered 25% discount, I explained I already had this but the bill was not reduced. Tonight we are enjoying great service, atmosphere and food at Penhale Round!!!
Very good value two meals for £5 each Monday-Friday until 6pm.nnThe interior and decor is very very outdated and dirty to be frank, the walls have holes in and the place needs an urgent refurb.nnI can't complain about the food as it was very enjoyable, same for the desert.
Went there twice, on the strength of the first visit, booked a meal for Sunday. Although advised to book there seemed to be plenty of space. Four roasts were ordered, three of which were supposed to be well done. Their idea of well done is to take medium meat and stuff it under a grill to crisp it up!! The roast potatoes were hard enough to break a plate if dropped on it. No one came to ask if the meal was satisfactory so we had to wait until the table was cleared to comment. The waitress promised to adjust the bill but didn't. It was only sorted after complaining a second time. Not a place we will be going back to or recommending for Sunday meal
Went today for a fry up as a party of 11. They forgot to cook mine, the server was told twice about it and both times I was told that the chef forgot to cook it, i was told both times that it was on the way. After further waiting went to see the server again who said that breakfasts have now stopped and I couldn't get what I ordered even after sitting there and watching them serve breakfast to other tables. There was no apology or offer to rectify it.
