Food is good. Been in there a few times now and they are so unorganised. Twice they didnt have the christmas menu in December. Tried there afternoon tea recently and they messed that up. Last night we went in there and the waitress completely messed up my order. Nothing was offered as a goodwill gesture even after i was the only one on my table without dinner. Will not be returning for awhile!

Shocking. Didn't have the bread they were supposed to. Never told us and just served up normal bread and still charged full price. Olives were like bricks with no flavour. Had to wait ages for our food which was tasteless. Sat without a drink for an hour without being asked if I would like another one. I know I could have got up and asked for one but that's not the point. First time ever I left a restaurant without giving a tip. That's how bad the experience was. Won't be back in a hurry lol

I hadn’t eaten at Cafe Rouge before, but got the impression they were good and the “Waitrose” of high street cafes. Sadly our visit to the Loughton branch shattered my impressions. Service took time despite not being busy, the wrong starter arrived. A salad failed to come with the listed avocado as the kitchen did not have any, which staff were aware of but failed to mention until I questioned it. Prawn starter a little over cooked and minimal for the price. Creme Brûlée had a topping of sugar crystals rather than caramelised sugar, and was just dull. The almond tuile was like flavourless chewy cardboard. Now I see Cafe Rouge for what it really is, just a French themed UK high street chain restaurant with the usual greasy tables and poor, overpriced food.
