Brilliant place to visit. Plenty to see and explore. Refreshments and toilets within the castle walls. Reasonable prices at £13 per adult. Grassy areas and benches to sit on if you bring a packed lunch. Definitely recommend for a family day out.
Plenty of parking spaces available here, the parking charges has now changed, thankfully ! Previously you could only pay to park for a full day with no other options. Now it's even easier with smaller time slots and different payment options. The car park is ideally placed for all the attractions and the town centre.
So it's not cheap but it is a stones throw from the castle and main parts of the town. You can pay via an app just park which isn't the same as the rest of Wales it seems. You can also pay via money or card. The spaces are not wide but they are not the smallest we've used. There are a lot of spaces but I'd say on a warm summer's day the car park will fill up. I've attached the prices as of May 2024.
Great location to park, but beware. If entering your car reg on the pay and display machine, double check that the machine registers each digit correctly.nI'd seriously advise taking a photo of the digital display showing your entered reg number before printing the ticket. Keep your ticket somewhere safe after you leave too.
BEWARE OF PARKING CHARGES FOR LATE RETURN – RIP OFF – we had paid for parking in this car park 4 hours, with the charge rate expensive enough already you pay for the convenience of the location – however we arrived back to our car 20 or so minutes late and have been fined £100 reduced to £60 if payment was made sooner. Our car was picked up via registration plate recognition, rather than due to an inability to display a parking ticket which was clearly on show.nThe fines for overshooting your paid term are grossly excessive, and absolutely no quarter or compassion was shown on appealing the above charge for a young family, trying to juggle two children under the age of 4 back to the car despite best endeavors. I would be curious to know how many other users get charged these fines, which I should imagine constitute a significant income booster to the car park operator. We fully respect terms and conditions, however in this instance, the fines administered for arguably petty indiscretions are disproportionately punitive. Beware.
