Went for Christmas dinner to this place and I was very impressed with the food. Of course experiences will differ but mine was a good one. I ordered the pork belly which came with an apple pie. Very well cooked and tender meat. The pie was a nice addition and complimented the dish well. Staff were also friendly. The bar does get busy on a Friday night though and thus can be a bit noisy if you're the sort of person who is bothered by this. Would be a good place to get some dinner before hitting the town. Definitely recommend.

I visited during a difficult Lunch service on a Saturday, place was quiet when I arrived but quickly became busy. They were training new staff and my order was misheard resulting in the wrong starter being sent. The very long wait for the correction was acknowledged by the senior service staff without me making a fuss and I was apologised to and offered a free Aperol Spritz. Food was reasonable. Atmosphere was initially pleasant, but there was an influx of big tables and families with children and the noise became irritating. Might go again on a weekday for comparison.

We had a table booked for lunch last Saturday. After being seated we were ignored for the next 30 minutes without even being offered drinks. This was the first point at which I was so very close to getting up and walking out. The place wasn't exactly busy and there were several serving staff just standing around. Very poor start to our meal! The table wasn't exactly great as my seat was fixed to the wall that had the toilets on the other side. This meant that every time someone went into or out of the toilets, it felt like someone bumping into the back of the seat with the slamming of the toilet door. When someone finally came to take our drinks order, I had to ask for another table as 30 minutes of this was quite enough! We finally got our drinks after having been there for about 40 minutes, at which point we were pretty fed up. The food was ok, but just ok. I had the half roast chicken which was dry and overcooked. It came with fries and a very small portion of gravy. The chicken could have done with much more gravy to compensate for how dry it was. My wife had a lobster risotto. The lobster was also overcooked. We finished our meals and again we were left waiting. At this point, I was going to just put some cash on the table and walk out, without even knowing what we owed for the meal. Before I did this, the server came over and we asked for the bill. I wasn't exactly enthused with the amount the meal cost for what I felt we had received, suffice to say that had the bill not come when it did, the amount I was going to leave on the table was roughly half of what the bill was for. We left cash on the table and left as promptly as we could. It is rare for me to not leave a tip but they were lucky I paid what I did. We will not be returning to Browns any time soon, if at all.

Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Wide choice on the menu, well presented and served. Couldn't fault any of the breakfast or evening meals we had there.

Good friendly atmosphere, great waiter service....however..... ordered the steak and ale pie,, once opened the pie,,there was hardly any filling at all, 4 tiny pieces of meat and a couple of carrots ( not exaggerating ), no gravy..well over priced at £12. Had to go and buy a sandwich when left.
