Really lovely pub, the staff were all really attentive and chatty. We enjoyed plenty of drinks, starters and mains. Warm cosy atmosphere would recommend the steak, fish and chips, salmon special and vegetarian Wellington. All tasty, hot and well presented. Nothing was too much trouble.
Nice looking pub but very chilly in the dining area. Staff very friendly and offered efficient service. Several items were unavailable on the menu reducing the choice somewhat. Portions were very large and mostly the dishes were well cooked except for the steak which was over cooked. But why use slate place mats which suck all the heat out of the dinner plate, making your food get cold quicker. Will give it another try though
Met friends here as halfway between our homes. Found the pub by chance on the internet. Very pleased with our food and the homemade soup was really delicious, as were the mains. Very good value for money. Will definitely use The British Queen again.
Overpriced room, bright green door exit and Wi-Fi lights in the room that make it uncomfortable to sleep, lots of light coming in from the window curtains which barely cover it. No one to seat me and get my breakfast the next morning. Would not stay overnight again. Pub food was excellent though but the rubbish sleep ruined the experience
Great place to go on a dog walk. I haven't eaten there but the menu looks good.Service: 3/5
Friendly staff, very attentive. Lovely fresh food, good sized portions
Great Sunday roast, the food was best pub food we have ever had, plus great surroundings, and best thing was surprised at great value will go again.
Great pub, well stocked bar with choice of real ales, friendly staff, dog friendly too.
Went here for the first time last week and unfortunately it was a funeral but the pub is lovely and the staff fantastic. It has a really nice feel to it and a great selection of beers and ales. Only wished I lived nearer to it to enjoy it more. Have not eaten here but the menu looked good too. Oh and had a lovely fire going..you cant beat a real fire in a pub!!
Overpriced room for the night, shower head was broken and the fire-exit light above the door was bright enough you could read with the lights off. Photos online make it appear better than it actually was. Average stay
