Ist time eating here and it was as good as it gets ,nice atmosphere when entering staff are very friendly and welcoming food came out hot ,you need to phone after 10 am to book a table a few days before I would recommend a try ,it's a really nice pub to go to for a meal and a pint
I never felt so welcomed as I did in this place. Dog friendly pub, lovely staff, atmosphere, and the food is just delicious, please try the lamb! I wish to go back soon.
Interesting pub that often seems busy. Very popular for delicious home cooked meals,we didn't eat on this occasion but have done before. Decent beer, maybe felt a bit like outsiders on this visit but always been made to feel welcome in the past. Worth a visit if you are passing.
Absolutely love this pub. We always pop in every time we are down Folkestone. The owners are so welcoming and there's always a great atmosphere. Last time we visited it was New Years Day and they were handing out mince pies to everyone free of charge and chatting to us about our Christmas and New Year. Although we aren't locals we are made to feel that we are. Plus they always give our dog Millie plenty of attention when we have brought her along too.
Lovely pub. Good beer, faultless service and proper grub. Four of us had a Saturday lunch. Pub was busy. Quick efficiency service with a smile. Thank you.
The oldest pub in Folkestone and a very traditional gem. Located above the coast on The Bayle, in a lovely quiet spot next to a church. Received a very friendly welcome. Great choice of ciders & ales, and good, traditional pub grub. Easy to see how it would become a local’s favourite.
Another fantastic Roast Dinner at the British Lion. Bustling and busy as usual with excellent service. Well kept ales and good choice of other drinks. A family favourite.
Didn't eat here but was very busy. Quaint little pub and it has a little smoking area at the side also be nice in the summer
We Always hesitate when we eat out when travelling. That pub is a gem. Top destination in Folkestone for good food and local friendly atmosphere. We almost went away when we been told they're full. After a 2 minutes conversation, we finally seat near the bar next to a local who was having food. We have been welcome and been put in a really friendly mood straight away. The landlady and the waiter are really really nice and DEFENETLY helpful. Their tap ale 'the forty niners' if i remember well was one of the best i ever had. The roasts were excellent nut roast & mix beef/pork, brilliant vegetable selection and an unique crispy yorkshire pudding. And at the end, the black cherry went very well with a Grand Marnier. We love this pub. It should be an example for other buisness. Again, Top destination for a roast in Folkestone. Thanks to the team, the landlady & the chef. We'll defenetly b coming back.
Very comfortable traditional English pub with a truly welcoming feel to it. They do again a very traditional Sunday Roast, served hot and fresh in a very quick time. Prices were acceptable and our pre-booked table was well laid out. No outdoor tables or space as the pub itself is located on a cobbled styled road. A very warm and happy pub. Not really suitable for children or the younger jet set. Parking is all on street and requires mobile phone to make payment.
