New, extended shop floor with great access and wide isles. Upstairs has crafting things too and its next to the beautiful canal. Located next to the bus stop, with plenty of taxis.

Massive shop that has a wide variety of produce on sale, including well-coloured waterproof overtrousers in my size that I bought at a good price from a lovely member of staff on the till!

A reasonable question posed to staff of replacement mop heads for a floor wiper was met with a definite…NO…then laugher and mockery with other customers of a customer asking a fair question is disgusting and nothing less than bullying…thankfully I found the answer and the product at Yorkshire Trading just up the road, lovely polite customer centric young man, I recommend you visit here where they don’t mock and distress customers like I was treated…and to add insult to injury I wanted to hope it was just a bad day for these staff…how wrong I was…wanting to think the best of retail staff and knowing Ilkley are so engaging kind and helpful…I attempted to shop again, to find out that NO every day is a bad attitude day for Skipton Boyes…and again Yorkshire Trading as always friendly and helpful…QED, avoid this branch like the plaque the staff are appalling…tip to HO tell store staff not to mock customers, now twice until they are out of sight and ear shot it’s nasty toxic and alienates customers…
Available to get round easily the place was very clean and orderly. Sales person abit rude when I ask for a bag for my wool.
Sadly I must give this competitively priced shop in Skipton a one star for service experience today and I make no apologies for doing so! The rude / abrupt response to some constructive feedback about the layout of the till area was shocking. I understand they have had to adjust this due to the pandemic and I acknowledged that in my comment to them, but when even the till operative is struggling to remember which items he has already scanned then I think the feedback is justified! Sadly both him and what appeared to be the manager responded with 'it's never been a problem since the start of the pandemic'. They moaned about me using my own bag to carry shopping even tho I made it clear that I was concerned about using an unsanitised basket no provision to wipe these in the entrance area I might add I think I've made my point and to add insult to injury I was double charged for an item! since only £1 I didn't want to return for another bashing from rude and unpleasant staff. I see I'm not the only person to mention this issue recently so I hope someone who reads this will make a point of addressing this for the benefit of all Boyes customers.
Cheap as chips and a bit chaotic but I don't mind rummaging through stuff for a cheap bargain. Good haberdashery upstairs. Amazing range of good old fashioned pins,header tape, fabric, binding. All at good prices. Some nice crafty stuff too, but a bit slap dash in its arrangement and display is, felting wool a row away from felting needles? Could spend hrs in here and still not spend a fortune.
Boyes has a great range of affordable products, from home essentials to clothes and craft supplies. The craft department is fairly large and well stocked. The Skipton store has a one-way system to help maintain social distancing.
I am more than aware that in the current climate of Covid 19 people have to be careful re. keeping to infection control rules when shopping. Today, when paying for my goods in Boyes, it was not apparent where you should stand when queuing up to pay. The way the sales assistant/manager spoke to me sounded rude, as if he had been in army. The average person knows the importance of following rules to keep safe but how staff communicate these to customers makes a lot of difference. Have clear signage for people to follow and please be polite - good customer service - when speaking to customers. I will not be rushing back to Boyes!!!
