Whether you enjoy a good crime, with all the twists and turns of the detective and criminal; a good romance, with the perfect blend of emotional complexity; a historical drama, with the power of kings and queens; a fantasy/scfi, with the hero triumphing over a great evil; a children's book to make you laugh out loud, or a biography with wit and charm - Books On The Hill would like to warmly welcome you and together share our passion of literature.

Love the new shop - spacious, well stocked and thoughtfully laid out. The coffee shop is a welcome addition and always seems to be well utilised when I pop in!
Very nice book shop. Empty when I went in. Thought I would have a coffee. My mistake don't do Americano. You can't have hot milk . Have to have a jug of coffee? and a cup. I don't understand. Also all their publicity calls them the community bookshop. I think that is wishful thinking. The Community Bookshop is on Copse Road and is a second hand books with polite and cheerful staff. Maybe Books on the hill could learn from that.
First time back on Hills Rd since Books on the Hill have relocated to larger premises. Always great to support an independent bookshop with a knowledgeable and helpful owner in Alastair. There’s now a cafe for coffee and cake as well, so next time hope to have time myself to browse.
Books on the Hill is a fab shop. Located just round the corner from me. They always have a quick turn around with book orders and what Chloe doesn't know about history ain't worth knowing
A lovely independent bookshop with amazingly knowledgeable booksellers in a quiet little seaside town, rather than in the hipster quarter of a bustling city? Really? Oh yes! And it really is as lovely as it looks. Plus the cafe next door and the park across the road look like good spots for reading purchases on future trips. My photo is some of the mountain of books I was recommended when I asked for their advice, and 100 pages into the first of the books I chose, I'm already excited to ask for future recommendations. Very much recommended! Review revisited in Feb 23 and they are still just as lovely!
Brilliant recommendations every time. Fabulous selection of books and games.... And what a wonderful place to shop. A real treasure trove of fabulousness.
What a wonderful shop. Asked for recommendations for my grandchildren and the books chosen were perfect. So helpful and knowledgeable, thank you.
Such a great shop! The staff are very helpful - I emailed an order query on a Sunday, got a reply the same day to check I was happy with price, and books were in to collect three days later. It's a lovey place to browse and they also sell puzzles, games, gifts and even tea! Highly recommend it.
Just the loveliest local bookshop with plenty of brilliant advice on offer. And now about to add tea and coffee in the meantime X at a nearby new larger store. So exciting
Wonderful bookshop...fabulous cafe!
