Yesterday we enjoyed the most magnificent lunch for our party of 7. Two of us enjoyed the Grouse pan fried breasts, and as game eaters, we must say this dish was fantastic. The atmosphere of the pub was great, and the chef should be highly commended. .......not missed that they had Fosters on tap, and at the right temperature !! Highly recommended for food and friendly staff service. Jon & Cate Thomas, Melbourne.
We arrived after a mornings walk and had enjoyed a lovely lunch. The service for 11 of us was excellent. We phoned in a takeaway order for 7.00pm and again the service and the food was excellent. The staff were so helpful. Our evening was made all the more enjoyable by the lovely food we enjoyed back at our cottage.Rooms: 5/5
I had dinner here with my husband a few days ago. I would recommend to anyone who likes pub food that's different and a cut above the average. I had a seafood salad, the fish was plentiful and tasty. The salad was fresh and lightly dressed, with homemade coleslaw. I asked for tartare sauce and that was homemade too. My husband had a generous serving of lamb pie - very well done and tasty with a good serving of veg on the side. Chips were proper chips, deep golden brown and I'd guess twice cooked. Service was prompt, helpful and friendly. The room was well laid out and decorated in traditional country pub style. We very much enjoyed our dinner and would definitely return when in the area.
We reserved a table at short notice for this afternoon based on location but also google reviews. The menu had a fantastic selection of all courses, the quality and presentation exceeded our expectations. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and if in the area again this would be our first stop of our holiday not last. 5*
Me and the wife had a great lunch here today. The fish goujon sandwich I had was cooked perfectly and my wife's beef ciabatta looked very nice and had great reviews. We also shared a breaded brie which was very nice too.
Possibly the cosiest pub in the world! We went today for lunch for a family get together. The food was superb - we really enjoyed it. Nice selection of ales on tap and actually not bad wine! It’s changed hands since we last went a couple of years ago and has undergone a refresh/refurb which is very tastefully done and preserves the incomparable character of this place and sets this gem of a country pub up for its next chapter
The perfect country pub, oozing atmosphere, in a beautiful village. Parking can be a bit random but worth the effort...one of the few owner run establishments left in the area and it shows. Open every day, a rarity in itself, for excellent food from classic proper pies to more imaginative combinations involving game and fish. Great ales too, especially Saltaire Blonde. Open fire, excellent toilets, beautiful garden and proper old school service, especially when former landlord Peter is around. Highly recommended.
After seeing the reviews stating it was dog friendly, we visited The Blacksmiths Arms on a very cold night, with the dog to celebrate my birthday. I'd checked under the about information on Google and there was nothing showing. Unfortunately when we arrived, we were advised the pub was NOT dog friendly! However, we were informed of other dog friendly pubs in the area so we are grateful for the information. Sadly we never got to try the food which sounded lovely, and experience the warm log burning fires. So if you are choosing The Blacksmiths Arms, please be aware it is NOT dog friend
Visited on our way to Rosedale for early evening meal on New year's eve. Food was fantastic, best we have had in a long time. Staff very helpful and friendly. Intend to visit again.
The best steak and ale pie on the planet! Friendly staff, lovely beer and fantastic food! Everything about this fantastic pub is great!Service: 5/5
