Story

A once Georgian Coach House the Black Lion Hotel has been transformed into a friendly and warm family run hotel. The Black Lion takes pride in serving award winning cask ales in the comfort of the bar and snug warmed with open log fires. Customers have the choice of dining in the hotel bar or upstairs in the Shiraz Restaurant. The hotel provides spacious ensuite single, twin and double rooms and a WiFi facility to all customers. We are also pleased to offer a pet friendly policy for those avid walkers and their dogs.

Really lovely lunchtime meal! Nice friendly waitress. Cumberland sausage ring and mash was superb!! The gravy was something else. The Sticky Toffee pudding was the best I've ever tasted! We will be going back!nnCame back 2 days later! Had to try it again! It was not a fluke the food was wonderful again. We tried the Steak and Ale Pie and the Chicken and Ham Hock pie both with mash and vegetables. Proper pies! No “pies” with only pastry on the top, proper pastry.…full of filling and very tasty. We like it here, in fact we've booked to stay in the autumn for a few days for our Anniversary…..cant wait !
I had a very pleasant experience at The Black Lion Hotel. From arrival to departure, the service was professional, welcoming, and well-organized. The hotel is well maintained, with clean and comfortable rooms that reflect a strong attention to detail.nnA special mention goes to Demi, who was exceptionally courteous, helpful, and professional throughout my stay. Her friendly and attentive approach made a real difference and contributed greatly to the overall positive experience.nnBreakfast service was excellent. Elle, who served me, was polite, efficient, and welcoming, ensuring a relaxed start to the day. Compliments also to Jake, the breakfast chef, for preparing a high-quality and well-presented meal.nnFinally, Micheala, the landlady, deserves recognition for running such a well-managed and welcoming establishment. Her professionalism and warm presence are clearly reflected in the high standards of the hotel.nnOverall, The Black Lion Hotel offers quality accommodation, excellent service, and a comfortable atmosphere suitable for both business and leisure travelers. I would happily recommend it and would not hesitate to stay again.
I didnt stay this time, but the 5* for rooms is for previous visits.nnHowever, the service, location and friendliness from the staff is always amazing. We spent a few hours here and Demi made sure we were well looked after.nnWe ordered somw.tricky drinks and she delivered them perfectly and with a smile. Demi is great!!
The staff are absolutely lovely here. My family had booked a function room for a surprise birthday party for me. They were in on it and let nothing slip when I arrived The buffet they provided was absolutely delicious. At the end of the evening we started to help putting the room back but they were having non of it and told us not to worry they'll sort it. And wished me a happy birthday. Just perfect here for atmosphere. And if the buffet was anything to go by then I'll be back again for a meal. Well done the Black lion.
We stayed here last night and our room was lovely, clean and warm & plenty of hot water. The staff were friendly. We had food in the bar when we arrived and the food was really nice. The only thing that let our stay down was the English breakfast - the streaky bacon was barely cooked we would have preferred back bacon and the rest of the breakfast was deep fried and overcooked.nWe would stay here again but maybe just have cereals abd toast for breakfast.
