I arrived at A&E this morning with heart pain. There were many people in the waiting room, so the nurses sometimes read the names. They checked that no one was left out of care. After examinations, I was transferred to the SDEC department. Here I received more tests, blood test and X-ray. The doctor who treated me in the department was very nice. She completely impressed my wife and I with her attentiveness, vast medical knowledge and practice. Once again, many thanks to her and the A&E and SDEC staff.
If i could give 0 stars it would still be more. Only one nurse. Loud waiting area. looks like not enough staff to manage the only a&e in Birmingham. Literally too congested and crowded very hard to breathe even. For sure you'll forget why you are here after the long wait. Totally collapsed.
I was, perhaps, lucky to arrive when A&E wasn't packed to the roof!!!nI thought they were excellent. There was water, tea and coffee freely available, to make waiting more bearable, and sandwiches were offered at a very reasonable price.nI had to wait for blood results but that unavoidable. Doctor was excellent.nI know from experience that the NHS can be superb, or pretty bad, to say the least, but, on this occasion, it was very good.nThank you to all the doctors and staff.
Last year when I happened to be in the waiting room in the queue, there was a young woman there in great distress, obviously miscarrying her baby. Instead of moving to a quieter area, or seeing to her before her turn which NOBODY would have minded they told her partner to go and get some paper towels for her to sit on. For three hours we sat watching this poor young woman bleeding. An older patient leaned across and was holding her hand to reassure and comfort her. But no nurse.
So I went to ane with suspected siatica which I knew wasn't the case I walk in explain to the nurse that asked me the problem to be told if u been told siatica that's what u got. My response how can anybody say its that for sure without any examinations n I knew it was because it didn't ever go away long story short ended up having mri scan and the results where I have a condition called spondylolisthesis which swear can walk or sit proply with it alot of the time. While their another lady flat lines while having obs done and the same nurse done nothing but walk over she was the closes one to her to help while all others where running round to get to lady and hygiene horrendous I was busting for the loo n refused to go 1 cause of hygiene but also because the smoke from someone either taking crack or heroin is shocking their!
