Artisan sourdough bakery in East London

Story

The Better Health Bakery is a charitable artisan bakery based in Haggerston. As a social enterprise we bring the community together by promoting locally produced food and providing trainee placements to adults recovering from mental ill health.

All our bread is made using traditional methods and with natural ingredients to produce a satisfying honest loaf. We don’t use any additives or preservatives in our products only flour, wild yeast, water and salt . To gain the depth of flavor in our bread we give it plenty of care and the time it needs to prove and bake. We hope you enjoy the results and are always keen on your feedback.

Great bakery with a mix of sweet and savory goods. The chocolate chip cookie and the cheddar and sun-dried tomato tart were particularly good. Will have to come back to try the bread too.
Great little bakery with a charity for mental health behind it. They organise events and bakes to help people recover from mental health issues. Great initiative and am very happy to support it.
Moved into the area recently and was looking for a morning/lunch time option with good coffee and food. Safe to say I've found it : Really lovely staff, an excellent range of high quality freshly baked items and solid coffee. Highly recommended!
Hands down best cinnamon buns! So glad it's my local bakery. Super friendly staff who are really knowledgeable in their sourdough. Their breads and other pastries are pretty good too ; They're super popular so make sure you go early before their breads sell out.
This bakery was on my "To Go" list for a while but every time I've passed by the place was closed. But upon the first time that I was lucky enough to encounter open doors I've been delighted with the quality of the food and they even offered a free starters kit for making homemade bread! I'll definitely come again and I hope that they will offer a large range of vegan pastries.

I went past it once and saw people queueing up for lunch pizza . Got curious and ordered one myself. I am glad i did because it was an absolutely banging vegetarian slice of heaven. Have been coming back week after week, trying their coffee, bagels, and lunch boxes. Yet to be disappointed!
I just want put my face in their sticky sourdough loaves and breathe in the amazing aroma, then eat the whole loaf with salted butter and nothing else. And on fridays, I want a slice of each pizza. I love you Better Health Bakery, please will you marry me?!?
Best bakery ever:. delicious sourdough, and the staff couldn't be more friendly. pizza on Fridays, always different and vegetarian. During the week they do meal deals, cook with ingredients from the organic farmers market in stokey Also is part of a charity who helps people with mental health problems
Walked in only to be treated with a “NO dogs aloud” I came In to mirley buy a pastry to go.... Seeing as I’ve worked in a cake shop/bakery almost my whole life they should really rethink this policy... as long as the dog is not in the kitchen and there is no customers that find dogs uncomfortable they should not reject customers.
