We recently had the pleasure of celebrating our wedding at Blunsdon House Hotel in Swindon, and it was an experience we will cherish forever. From start to finish, the entire event was beautifully managed, and much of this success is owed to Grace, whose professionalism and attention to detail were simply outstanding. The food and drink were exceptional. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented, and the drinks were perfectly selected to complement the meal. Our guests were thoroughly impressed and enjoyed every bite. The venue itself was stunning, providing a perfect backdrop for our special day. The staff was attentive and accommodating, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. Grace's coordination ensured that every aspect of our wedding was perfect, and her efforts did not go unnoticed. In summary, our wedding day was incredible, and we are immensely grateful to Grace and the entire team at Blunsdon House Hotel. We couldn't have asked for a better day, and we highly recommend this venue to anyone planning their special day. Thank you for making our wedding day a truly unforgettable experience!
We have enjoyed staying at Blunsdon House Hotel, several times. It's an amazing hotel, with lots to offer. The standard meets/exceeds the cost/price i.e = "good value". BUT, perhaps as a result, not quite hitting the 4 star rating that it advertises/aspires to. Good facilities, but:- -Swimming pool not available to guests before 8am, because of swimming lessons which weren't actually happening when we stayed, and last time, children couldn't swim early at the weekend!; -Breakfast buffet always great, in concept, but on a slow day the meat/cheese was 'turning up at the edges', and the pastries are going hard under the lamps. The 'nail in the coffin' was filter coffee with lots of coffee grounds . I spoke to the Duty Manager. This was in acknowledged as unacceptable. So, I hope, next time you stay, that you can enjoy a great experience at, what can clearly be, a great hotel.
Staying as a couple reception staff was un welcoming They had a wedding reception the night of our stay which took over the hotel and it's staff I would definitely recommend checking before booking if there are any functions going on After our experience I probably wouldn't recommend We ate in the restaurant and only ordered dinner this took 45 minutes to come out my wife's dinner was delicious but unfortunately mine came out burnt and really dry, so it was sent back. My wife also ordered chips with her meal which she did not get and we were told that they were sorry but the chips were sent to the wedding party.
Gosh this place is like walking into a time capsule to the 70's! My grandparents would have loved this. The rooms are quite warm, stuffy, and cluttered full of furniture and massive bedside lamps. There's peeling patterned ceiling wallpaper, and hot taps that burn hotter than the sun. The beds are very firm and the ceiling lights are fluorescent. It's quite noisy, there's no plugs next to the bed, and breakfast was quite sad. But having said all of this it's comfortable and clean and in a beautiful setting and it does the job admirably. I loved the pool and the walks around the garden and it's in a great location. The gentleman on reception when I checked in was also so lovely.
Before you book at this hotel you MUST ask if the room has a ‘’ connecting door’’ or not, as this is a game changer. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children. We booked 2 separate rooms. One room was having this connecting door with neighbouring room, the simple talk from the other room was heard in our room, the phone alarm went off at 6:45AM in neighbouring room, and my wife heard it and couldn’t sleep. The second room we rented was not having this connecting door, it was more luxurious and renovated, exactly what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. In fact when I called the hotel and spoke to the receptionist before booking, they could have told about this “connecting door” because it was a great advantage to book both rooms with a door in between to check on children, unfortunately this was not offered. As the people at the reception they don’t know in advance what room will be allocated. I wanted to give 5 stars but because of this “connecting door” in one of the rooms unfortunately it’s a 4 star. Apart from the above. An amazing location. Great food at the restaurant, with friendly staff. Very friendly stuff at the swimming pool. Kids had a lot of fun. Great place to disconnect and relax with the family. Play area for small kids is fine it keeps them busy. Great idea of having a tennis court too. Good value for money. Just a suggestion for those who might look for intertainment or some extra activity with the family, there is a place called "Rein and Shine equestrian center" where you can ride horses, it's just 15 min drive from the hotel, great experience, my kids and wife had a lot of fun there, highly recommended. To the manager who will be reading this review. My recommendation would be to have a training for the reception stuff so they can better understand what solutions they can offer when the costumes like myself are calling and explaining what is needed. Reading from the script is good but sometimes a different approach is needed I’m sure that in the future better solutions can be offered. All the best!
Amazing place. Great prices. Lovely rooms. Fitness centre, pool and sauna were fantastic. Warm and friendly staff. Excellent!Rooms: 5/5
Location is lovely, staff were all really polite and parts of the hotel are modern & cosy. The room was dated and looked tired, some areas of the room needed maintence but was otherwise fine. Whilst using the pool there were seperate occasions of people shooting water pistols which made the experience less relaxing!! Lastly, parts of the breakfast were good, but we would have preferred a coffee machine option over filter coffee & a better selection of pastries/breads. All in all, it's not a bad hotel, but we'd be unlikely to return at the current price.
Lovely hotel and grounds food also good ,although breakfast on second day was not, overcooked bacon and odd tasting sausge. We had a suite again very nice ,spacious , views over grounds And pretty well appointed. What let it down were the mattresses in both beds each of which sagged in the middle and left us with aching backs. We were in the pavilion away from main hotel with very confusing lift buttons and room numbers which we were told wrong instructions to get there. Neither of us are dpringbchickens and frankly could have done with a hand finding it and managing bags . Rooms: Spacious but beds needed replacement mattresses.
Attended an event at the Blunsdon House Hotel recently and found it to be located in a lovely area, The grounds are beautiful. The hotel was large, bright and airy. Would recommend.Service: 5/5
I am adding my reply to the response provided on my original review: 1. I did not make any trumped up charges, nor talk abour any services: a working toilet FLUSH, an airconditioner for a room that was easily 24C+, are basic necessities that your hotel advertises and promised to provide. There is also a desk for a porter that we requested. None of these were provided. There are no trumped up charges, as you falsely accuse me of. Other reviewers here have similarly complained of room temperature issues. Are you just indifferent to the experiences of your customers in general? 2. 9/14 reviews that I have written on Google are positive. There is no agenda here that you so viciously accuse me of. I dont have the time to review every business i visit. You can blame me of some mal intent but take no responsibility for your arrogant and racist attitude? Your manager would have never spoken to white family like that. Also, what your manager did was borderline gaslighting behaviour. The receptionist on the first day we stayed at BHH, and a member of the cleaning team, separately confirmed to us that there were problems with the flushes in "most rooms". So for your manager to deny that this was an issue speaks volumes. 3. It is rather funny that you think I will spend my money on these premises again, after the attitude and behaviour and LACK OF BASIC NECESSITIES that your provided for my family. This was not about a refund, it was about basic hospitality that you all should take some refresher courses in. My complaint was about FALSE ADVERTISING of upgraded rooms that I paid extra for, and the completely inattentive and indifferent staff behaviour that came in response to a family that was clearly uncomfortable and disappointed. What you are advertising is false and the way you treat your customers is borderline abusive. 4. I gave 2 stars for the health facilities - the staff there was much better and kinder. I cannot say the same for anyone at the reception or the bar area or the breakfast areas. 5. I just want to add, after reading some of the other reviews here that had similar issues with staff attitude and air conditioning, BHH responded to them asking why these reviewers did not raise complaints. I did raise a complaint in person only for the beloved manager to deny and dismiss all my concerns. After which the respondent to my review here has rather sarcastically referred to my complaint using air quotes, dismissing it further, and basically accusing and blaming me in response. Truly obnoxious behaviour by BHH staff here. Thank you and regards. Absolutely terrible and racist service and hospitality. We booked two rooms. Paid extra to upgrade both rooms to pavilion rooms. Flushes did not work in either rooms on the two days we were there. AC did not work in either room. When asked reception to help, they said it is Winter. We came in May. And we came with three kids. No porter or anyone to help us with our bags or fix the flushes. Terrible and utterly unapologetic and indifferent staff at the reception. Waste of money and very arrogant behaviour on the part of all staff members. When we asked to speak with the manager, he denied there was any issue, even though the other staff said there was a maintenance issue. The manager lied to oue faces. Should have paid reimbursed us for the upgade cost at the very least.
