Just had a bubbles hot tub experience, which was great ,we got a free room upgrade which was good has it was spacious and looked like it had a new bathroom, so that was a bonus ,.nBut we went in at 6 for evening meal, not a good experience really ,menu wasn't a lot to choose from so both chose the tomato soup but took nearly an hr to come out then we had to wait another 45 minutes for main meal to come out hubby had fish and chips which he said was just ok but I had the chicken and leek pot pie ,when it came out the puff pastry was burnt on top but we had waited that long I didn't complain has wasn't going to wait another 45 mins fir replacement, so I took the top of pie of and just eaten the inside which was ok potato's ok but veg was cold : I ordered a dessert but hubby said im not bothering its took 2 hrs for 1st 2 courses ,but my dessert came in 10 mins but was only ice cream so can't take long to get that out of a tub really we then went to sit down in lounge area and was talking to some other guests and they said same service that night was awful and his steak was stone cold alongside the rest of it, but again said we had waited that long I couldn't be bothered to wait for it doing again, so left most of it ,then as we was talking one of the staff came to us and said are you in room no ?? My hubby said yes well here's you bill has you haven't paid for the extras on top of your £25 allowance 5.50 I knew we was over but we wasn't going to do a runner at 67 yrs old lol we just said oh sorry we thought we paid any other charges on departure, has we went to the higher trapp hotel 3 weeks ago and you paid your extras when you took your key cards back, so I found that a bit embarrassing really . We didn't use the pool or jacuzzi has one of guests said I wouldn't bother its dirty .nBut staff was pleasant ,,and breakfast today was ok apart from my bacon it was rock hard and couldn't cut it up ,but the waitress serving it was very pleasant.nBut I have to say I prefer your sister hotel The Higher Trapp even though there both dated I prefer the service there a lot quicker
Had an overnight stay at this hotel. When we arrived we was checked in quickly by a nice young man. Unfortunately I hadn't read the bit what said there were no lifts. As I am bad on my feet and struggled to climb the stairs to the 2nd floor. There is a lot of stairs. They said we'd been upgraded to a superior room. Well I wouldn't have liked to see the basic room if that was superior. Very dated and in desperate need of a refurbishment. Lumpy pillows and duvet, very shabby carpet and not as clean as it could be. Saying that the food was good and the all inclusive drinks were a nice bonus. Would I stay here again. Maybe if they get a lift.
Stayed here for 2 nights all inclusive offer 26th to 28th August.nnApproach to the property was fine, the hotel is in a nice location. Close enough to Ramsbottom town centre to walk and handy for a country walk up to the local landmark Peel Tower.nnCheck in was smooth, receptionist pleasant. We were given a room on the top floor above the pool.nnThe room was dated and not cleaned to a good standard. My partner being a cleaner at a 5 star establishment highlighted several points. Dust on the bed head, window sill, lights, picture frames and cobwebs around window frame. Bed runner was stained, as we're the pillows. We complained to reception for replacements. One of the replaced pillows all screwed up in a ball. Receptionist did apologise. The carpet in the bedroom that ran up to the bathroom was stained, as if bleached by the cleaning from the bathroom floor. Bathroom dated, hand towel a bit threadbare.nnThe food options at dinner were limited but we're cooked well enough and hot. Some options required additional charge , as did some drinks. Even an after dinner coffee was an extra charge. But service was slow. Twenty minutes or more to be served a sorbet. Breakfast was ok but beans came out cold at first. The waitress was great, apologies for not remembering your name. You gave us some great pointers to the local area.nnThe general areas of the hotel are also requiring attention. The walk from the restaurant to the toilets is up a staircase covered by a very worn carpet.nnOn our departure there's was no enquiry from reception if we'd enjoyed our stay, no formal apology from management, no please visit again or safe journey home. A survey emailed shortly after was completed and returned but not answered.
Had a lovely bubbles break. hot tub, afternoon tea, all inclusive drinks and money towards evening meal. Everything was lovely and well worth the money. All the staff were friendly and ensured the guests were looked after. Food was great too. Definitely returning. Horrid weather on arrival day but walked to the village the next morning which was so picturesque and some beautiful cottages, lots of cocktail bars around artisan market whilst we were there too. Highly recommend, thanks to all the team
Absolutely fabulous stay at tge Old Mill Hotel again.nnTremendous value for money. Staff extremely pleasant. Food gorgeous. Bed comfortable & love the new outdoor hot tub experience.nnAlready looking forward to returning as it was a very much needed break.nnAudrey, Manchester.
