The Bell is a lovely little hotel but needs a little TLC to bring it up to date but it is very well situated and the staff could not be more helpful. The staff were absolutely fabulous and the food was really good. It also has good spa facilities even if the swimming pool was a little bit smaller than anticipated but the jacuzzi was excellent.
Not great.nStaff overworked and understaffed.nReceptionists doubled up as bar persons.nSo usually there was no one on the bar or on the reception area.nThe spa closes at 5pm on weekends and our check in was delayed due to the housekeeping being understaffed so we didn't get much use out of the spa which was the whole idea of staying here.nBreakfast is an extra charge.nNo bath on the room as statednNo chocolate in the room as statednNot 24 hr reception as stated.nDidn't eat here due to the lack of service.nGot woken up by banging and shouting as the outer doors were locked and accessible by key card. Their card didn't work and no one was on receptionnAll in all, a waste of money and rubbish end to a fantastic week.
Relaxing mini break, have been 3 times this year and planning to go back. Step back in time at this unique venue, Georgian/Victorian. We always leave feeling so relaxed. Highly recommend.
We stayed here for one night as we travelled for a concert in Scarborough. The room was spacious and had an interesting interior. The floors are quite creaky and the heating makes a loud noise.nnParking is quite tight but had no problems.nnBreakfast was ok and a vegetarian breakfast is available however but no alternative milks. Minimal Continental selection.nnI would stay here again as the building has a lot of character.
A very old building, so expect creaky floors and a kind of musty aroma. With lots of old things from a bygone time like on old red phone box and maps on the wall, probably from a time when it was a coaching house. It was very hot when I stayed and the room was like an oven with no air con or fans in the room, the corridor was much cooler and I was contemplating leaving the door open all night.nnThe lady who checked me in was very nice and polite, as was the woman who checked me out.nnI was up on the 1st floor in room 5 and it had a big comfy bed, TV, hot drink facilities, ensuite bath shower sink toilet. A wardrobe in the main room and an iron, ironing board and trouser press.nnVery centrally located right on the main street with all the shops & pubs.
