I phoned with a query regarding VAT on adjustable beds, for disabled people. I had used the live chat and was totally unimpressed at the answer given. The man described the procedure totally wrong. He suggested I would be given a form to claim back the VAT. I am paraphrasing but that is the gist of it. I know the only form I need would be to confirm I was in fact disabled and could buy an appropriate item VAT free. It is the responsibility of the vendor to decide if their product meets the requirement to sell it to a disabled person VAT free. I decided to phone the shop nearest to where I live. The phone was answered by a very professional and polite woman called Marie. When I told Marie what I was intending to buy she was quickly able to tell me that particular bed would not be VAT free because it was considered a luxury item and did not have anything specifically aimed at disabled people. I know less scrupulous vendors would consider all adjustable beds to meet the criteria to zero rate them. My reading of the legislation leads me to believe that Marie was correct and the previous salesperson was not. Although if Marie and I are incorrect I would be very happy to have a refund of the VAT I have paid lol. At this point I decided to buy the products. Again Marie was very professional, she was unsure that the mattress I had specified was appropriate for use with an adjustable bed. Once this was checked it was fine and I went ahead with the purchase.
Great showroom experience. Great delivery experience. Bed seems stable and of reasonable quality. On the bed some of the bolts are very close to brackets when there is no need for them to be designed this way. This made some bolts tricky to secure.
Absolutely first class service throughout. Salesman Mark at the Stockton branch was brilliant and explained everything to us. The delivery date and time were agreed in advance and everything worked to plan. Highly recommended.
Both Scot and Dave were courteous. They thanked me for dismantling the bed and worked efficiently assembling the new one. They took time to explain about the mattress and when I could make the bed up. Brilliant service.
The actual delivery itself was great but my delivery experience overall was really disappointing due to how inflexible your delivery service is and how filthy the plastic covers were on the two bases. After excellent customer service in store I chose my bed and was given a delivery date on March 13th, the problem I had was with the delivery time which was between 7 am to 9 am which was not convenient as after having a heart transplant the medication I take upsets my stomache first thing on a morning, I rang to see if the time could be changed to a bit later but was told it couldn't so as I was worried that I would possibly be in the toilet I changed the date to the 25th March and yet again got a really early delivery slot of 7.22 to 9.22 which was still no good, I rang and explained my problem with the delivery being that early but was told that I couldn't change the time only the date so would just be pot luck if I got a later slot if I changed the date of delivery yet again, the only option I was left with to get my new bed delivered was not taking the medication that upsets my stomach the night before which is my anti rejection drugs which are obviously important. Due to the problems I have I found the delivery experience really stressful, also on unpacking the items I was shocked at how filthy the plastic covers were, not just a bit of dust but thick black dirt, thankfully I had put clean dust sheets over my cream carpet as I would have been absolutely furious if all that muck had gone on my carpet. It would really improve your customers experience to have a choice of morning or afternoon delivery and to ensure that the plastic covering the beds was clean before being delivered into customers homes
Excellent service. We got exactly what we wanted. We wanted a bed as good as the last one we got from Bensons several years ago and more to which we were shown an updated model. We were left alone to try out many beds and asked for help once we got our choice down to two and eventually bought the bed of our choice with exactly what we needed and came in for.
The delivery actually went to my father's. Paid for the delivery and the old bed to be picked up. What wasn't explained was that the bed wouldn't be put up. It was £30 extra which I wasn't told about. My father lives in sheltered accommodation and can't walk unassisted. The delivery drivers wouldn't put the bed up and the showroom in Stockton wouldn't send them back, because £30 hadn't been paid.
The woman that assisted us was very professional.and she left no ston unternd.in helping me to cum to a desison.i wuld recommend the store.to others.
It is the second time I have used Bensons for beds & the staff have always been very helpful. Delivery Scott & Mathewteam were great.
3 months ago we bought a king otterman and a single ottoman and 2 mattresses. they got delivered today, the two delivery drivers were great! But the lady that delt with us in the Stockton branch didn’t complete our order in collecting the old bed, after phone calls trying to get them to take the bed as arranged for the lady to keep saying ‘I don’t remember the conversation’ that’s probably because she was only interested in talking about different mattresses or her family… Then kept telling me I had to pay for them to remove the bed, after I had already spent 2K, I’m still waiting on a returning phone call! I didn’t even get my invoice/receipt until I mentioned it today even tho I emailed asking for it 2 months ago and never got a reply. then while making up my daughters bed I notice the bed doesn’t line up and there are staples sticking out… I’m waiting on a reply to my email!
