Belgian Brasserie

About

Independent Creperie, Waffle House and Jazz Bar - Cosy, relaxing and welcoming atmosphere; serving fresh crepes, waffles, bagels and speciality beers.

Story

Come and experience the unique and wonderful food, drink and music at the Belgian Brasserie. The perfect place for catching up with friends over a cappuccino, eating well or just relaxing on the sofa and enjoying a bit of Marvin Gaye!

When you walk into the Belgian Brasserie, you'll know you've found somewhere special. Using family recipes passed down the generations (and we're not making that up), a delicious and sometimes naughty menu is provided for all ages, with special dietary requirements* catered for . The down to earth, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, together with fresh crepes, waffles, bagels and specials make this little independent creperie a hot spot! But it's not just about the beautiful food and the fabulous music; you'll also find homemade lemonade, wines, fruit ciders, Belgian beers and of course, gourmet coffees, teas and luxury hot chocolate with marshmallows, flakes and oodles of cream - all at surprisingly reasonable prices.

* Vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose intolerant and low fat options.

Restaurant owner, Sammy Goodall, built everything by hand, in her efforts to make this a unique and captivating little corner by the river Wandle:

"I wanted something you can't buy in a shop. Look at any high street and you'll see the same brands with the same decor in each chain. I prefer a bit of individuality! Not that I knew what I was doing and I only had a credit card to do it with (love ebay!) but I like to think that that's what gives my place it's charm! It all started with my Granny's ridiculously scrummy crepes and the underlying concept to make people happy, relaxed and to feel at home. Life in London is so fast... I wanted to have somewhere were people can escape and slow down! It's such an intimate little place – everyone that works here is very proud of it – I think that makes a huge difference to the atmosphere. We love it, our regulars love it and we hope you'll grow to love it too!”

Lovely place for a breakfast and we got fast service from very friendly staff. We enjoyed ourselves and would return again.Food: 4/5
Such a lovely little place this is! I’ve been twice now and both times the food and coffee has been delicious, and the owner and staff warm and welcoming. Not to forget the great playlist the owner has playing a great addition to the already cozy atmosphere the little venue has! I’ve had a crepe on both my visits and they were delicious each time! My companions tried the waffles on my recent visit and they all raved about them too!
It’s such a great place! I went for breakfast and the food was divine and the staff were so friendly. I never give reviews, but this was an exception. Highly recommend coming here.Food: 5/5
Unfortunately seems it has changed hands recently and the menu offering seems much worse now. The bagels are gone, and the sandwiches/savoury crepe offerings aren't great since they have one or two fillings and are pricey. Prices have really gone up across the board - before it was £6-7 for a good size bagel. Today, £7.50 for a single Belgian waffle with a few strawberries on it. Not really worth it. Coffee was quite good though. Nice service. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely boiling.
Very friendly attentive chap... tried the latte but the coffee was a bit too strong for me and a bit bitter. Otherwise a nice flavour. Oat raisin was v nice. Quite location and nice to see the distance hills and the pool too!
A brilliant spot for brunch! The waffles were delicious and felt very premium. Spot on coffee and a very relaxed and easy atmosphere. A step above your average coffee place doe something special. Will be returning soon!Food: 5/5
There aren’t many places that do bagels these days, but if you fancy one here’s a place to visit. The bagel was nicely soft and the bacon was cooked properly, neither undercooked nor overly done. Weekday mornings tend to be quite quiet in this area and the service is normally very good. I took a photo of the menu for the people reading this review and wanting to know what’s being served.
Really good food, quirky menu, good ambience and attentive service. I had a limencello and mascapone crepe and my friend a bagel. We drunk fresh lemonade and also slow gin. We were exceptionally happy with our food and drinks, they were full of flavour and inventive. The crepe could have been improved by being a little lighter but it was still enjoyable and very reasonable for the price. The star of the show was my slow gin presented to me as a little tasting experience! First try the gin alone, divine. Then try the gin with spices. Then the peel, amazing! Finally add your tonic. Wow. So tasty and totally unexpected! It absolutely does have a lovely ambiance, a lovely vintage/rustic vibe and I expect it is a delightful place for weddings and events. I adore all the vintage touches and the relaxed atmosphere.
All I can think is I was charged £6.60 for one maple & cinnamon pancake, served on a side plate. Such a shame.
Great service, delicious food.Food: 5/5
