Went here for dinner initially as we were staying at the premier inn, it was early so we were seated immediately and kept in check by the lovely Katie. She was great, we asked for recommendation on food and obviously I went for the Angus steak with sure & turf. It was fantastic. My whole family enjoyed their meals, great portion sizes and the chefs know how to cook a medium rare steak. The evening was stolen by Katie, she enjoys customer interaction and is great at it. Enjoys a laugh but always puts the customer first. As we were at the inn, also have breakfast here, she once again greeted us. And breakfast is breakfast!

A group of 4 of us, all 30 year old men, went here just for a drink, but still left sorely disappointed. Granted it was late at night on a Wednesday, between 10:30 and 11pm, but as you can see from the hours here on Google, they're open until 11pm on Wednesday. Shouldn't have been a problem, but my god, was it an ordeal. One of two things should have happened: "Sorry, we've called last orders already" or "What can I get you?". Instead, we got a miserable girl who grudgingly got us drinks, all the while making disgruntled, passive-aggressive remarks to us whilst doing it. Things like "I'd rather be going home than doing this" and "now I've got to mop the floor again". It made us quite uncomfortable, but we paid for our drinks and sat outside to drink them to get away from the stinking atmosphere left in the air. I would go into additional detail about what happened from then on, but to cut a long review short, the bottom line was that we were accused of "hiding your faces" for having a hood up in the cold weather, and "looking for trouble" after staff, who were blatenltly staring at us through CCTV, rushed out to yell at us when we were looking for a way round to the back garden area. They clearly thought we were criminals and/or scum, and treated us as such. Would give 0 stars if I could.

I've been dining at the Crows Nest for many years and experienced various menus over time as the operator has changed. The view from the back of the restaurant across North Buckinghamshire is undoubtedly the best feature of the place. Some of the staff have been there many years and are very good. This time the food was probably good quality when delivered but it's condition after going through the kitchen was not good. The chicken breast meat was overcooked and dried out. The Lasagna had boiled in the microwave and the top layer was dried out. The bone dry ( and unpleasantly floury textured ) triple fried chips seemed not to have been anywhere near a fryer whilst being prepared for our orders, microwaved? In summary, good ambience and convivial staff but let down by catering issues.

Since we brought my wife’s parents into the area last August, I’ve been taking them to lunch at the crows nest. In all that time, we haven’t had a bad thing to say about our experiences. The staff have always looked after us with a friendly service. There have been a couple of lunches where the fish was heavily battered but that hasn’t put us off going back. I would like to give a special mention to Lisa and Jason who are amazing at what they do. Even in the most busiest of times, they will give you time and help where possible. They help bring this review up to the deserved 5 stars.

This Beefeater has been refubished and is very nice inside. The menu has been upgraded too and the food was very good but commercial and out of a packet. unfortunately the price of eating at a Beefeater has been upgraded too and doesnt represent value for money anymore. I don't really know where the Beefeater chain sees its place in the restaurant hierarchy. There are some great independent restaurants around Tring which provide better quality food for around the same price. The improvements are all good but is Beefeater having ideas above its station. Perhaps they should try to aim at there old core market providing reasonable food at reasonable prices.
