Radiation isolation ...is not easy! But ward B3 staff have been incredible, so friendly, kind and attentive. They have helped the time away from my family a bit easier. Clocks went back last night and they don't get paid for that extra hour ..disgusting. although they were still happy to bring me my coffee . Brilliant job guys ! Thanks so much . The hospital its self needs a little TLC. And radiation isolation could be made more comfortable by having own kettle and fridge like other similar set ups in the UK. The window is small feels like night time all day long . But it's small for a reason..I'm just happy to see a little day light. The beach scenery on my wall gives the room a sence of depth , well done who ever thought of that.
Everyone involved in providing my cancer treatment are excellent. I'm treated with respect and it's always ensured that my dignity is intact. My only minor gripe is that there is not enough parking bays and you need to arrive 20-30 minutes early for your appointment to ensure you get parked in time.
A very young family members chemo.scans bloods etc were all delayed as well as the operation. He lost his battle to cancer thanks to delays in treatment. I've heard horror stories from many cancer patients at the Beatson complaining of how there were so many errors and delays in treatment. You'd think young patients would have priority with treatment but I guess we are just a no.
My mum attended and treatment started, after 4 months her condition worsened and she had a biopsy, to be told her cancer had been misdiagnosed and referred back to Crosshouse to start chemo with no further appointments at the Beatson required etc, we were told everything was going to be fine, as chemo would solve the problem, but so much time had been wasted. She passed away, 10 days after chemo started. 4 months after being told it was cancer, a long time after trying to get help to see a doctor in first place. Forever we have to live with the heartache of what went wrong. No support as a family.
Ward B7 staff couldn’t have been better, very friendly and knowledgeable. Out patients in ward B8 and B9 couldn’t have been worse. Rude nurses with a superiority complex. Would rather watch the tv than actually deal with patients, then despite the rest of the hospital being fine with visitors since some people drive hours to get there for a two hour appointment, they seem to make up the rules as they go. A ward full of useless lazy Karen’s.
My wife and I are watching the BBC documentary and it brings back memories of wonderful staff in the clinical trials department where my wife and daughter visited every Wednesday. This was a HAPPY place not doom and gloom by any means, when they went there they met so many wonderful staff and made so many wonderful friends still to this day. Every Wednesday one of the visitors accompanying a patient had a great singing voice so they all had a great sing song, with other joining in, many laughed and said is it gin in the infusion instead of chemo. A truly truly wonderful place.
After reading the negative reviews I am sorry but I have to stick up for the staff and the hospital. During my six months stint with chemotherapy and radiotherapy all the nursing staff were excellent and the medical staff went above and beyond the call of duty in some cases. My mum passed away with cancer just before my diagnosis but she too was kept in the loop by all her medical team as to what was happening. Brilliant hospital, fantastic staff and no complaints.
The staff at the Beatson Cancer Care Scotland centre are doing a very difficult job with an extraordinary amount of patients in and out all day long, these people are saving our lives, they occasionally make mistakes, maybe some of the Doctors don’t have an amazing bedside manner, I’ll grab that with both hands if they give me the bast possible treatment, come on let’s look at the bigger picture none of the staff are going out of there way to upset you, let’s give thanks to the staff and this amazing facility helping to fight this awful illness
My uncle has ongoing treatment at the moment. I ,in all honesty cannot say enough good things about the staff. As painfull as his treatment is, the nurses and doctors help to make it just a wee bit more bareable. I will never be able to thank them enough.
Cancer hospital great staff well run
