I stayed in the hostel. I wouldn't say it was better than expected or worse than expected but it served a purpose. It could should have been cleaner and the bed sheets in one bed showed signs of previous use but there was 3 beds to choose from and I was one so found a clean bed. TV was a bit pointless, shower was nice and hot and the room had good heating too. Didn't use the communal kitchen. I'd use again due to cheap price but if it gets much worse I wouldn't and if it cost more than £30 a night I wouldn't either.
Broch cottage was available at short notice, and communications with the host were great to arrange a check in, which was great. A few issues though, which were fed back to the host and she advised they would be looked at in the quieter months now. Bin hadn’t been emptied from previous guests’ use, sky remote needed 2 new AA batteries and none available in cottage, towels had seen better days, as had bedding. Double bed mattress was awful! Desperately needs replacing. Wine glasses not available. No soaps/basic toiletries provided. Needs a little TLC replacing broken light bulbs and repairing curtain/blind cords but otherwise fine minus terrible mattress for a stay.
Man! The house was freezing when we arrived! No instructions on how to make the heater work. Free wifi? We did not get any wifi at all. Not a single wifi spot detected. Good sleep? Nope. I have body aches this morning from an extremely firm mattress. Aside from that, the place is clean but thats it.
Stayed here many times. 3rd times was in Hostel, loads of beds, and spacious and decent bathroom. There was no kitchen in room but there is allocate kitchen and dining for everyone , just in different building. And then we decided to rent one of the cottages as we require private kitchen. It did not fail us. We stayed in “Little House” lovely house with very good size of kitchen and bedrooms. Since then we used to book the place every time we visit North Scotland. There was a time it wasn’t available but other cottages were available , we were in Silver Cottage and last was in Brochs. You have whole house for yourself. The area was very nice , would rly enjoy the quiet place. The pictures I will attach was from the Brochs. The kitchen in Brochs were well equipped, microwave, cooker, oven, fridge, washing machine, and dryer, by the time we stayed here, the Dishwasher is not available to use. There is also bread toaster etc. The Brochs House has two bedrooms, one master bedroom and one with double deck bed. So far this is best place we ever stayed in Bearnock. Easy to book a place, simply call them by phone or even send txt, and just pay once you’re there. The only things I want them to improve is cleanliness and to provide decent towels for the guests, we were not rly convince to use the towel provided as we did not think it’s clean as they were stained of something. Since we stayed here many times , this what we rly notice other than that we love here and would definitely come back and recommend.
We are sad to tell you that we can not enjoy our stay at your hostel. There are several things that are absoluteley not acceptable. Our room was not really clean when we arrived. There are many long black hair in the bed as well as in the bathroom and the blanket has a black spot that looks like mold. Furthermore it is naturally that the kitchen is always as clean as other people leave it, but the condition of the kitchen is absolutely not acceptable. There is a mouldy peace of paprika next to the sink which was not removed since yesterday. The dishes are dirty and there is rubbish in the cupboards. We also found a rusty pot with mould inside. It gives the impression nobody checks the kitchen from time to time. Besides we couldn't find a towel to dry the dishes that we cleaned. Unfortunately there was nobody around to ask for that. Once we called you for help but we felt like we are disturbing you during the conversation. Moreover there is no paper for drying the hands in the public toilets, what should I dry my hands with? This is not what you should feel like as a guest. All this made us feel very unwell so that we decided to break up our stay at your hostel previously and look for another accommodation. To underline our impressions we attached several pictures of our dirty room as well as of the kitchen. Maybe the hostel was a nice place a few years ago, but now we can not recommend to overnight here. Kind Regards Ronja and Kim
Booked a 3 night break at the beginning of August in one of the luxury cottages. Drove 420 miles to find that what we had booked was run down, dirty and just unacceptable. The so called spa bath had obviously not worked for a long time, the dish washer was broken, one of the windows was broken, I tried to open the bedroom window and the handle came off in my hand, mould in the kitchen and bathroom and dirty cutlery. To top it off the heating wouldn't turn off unless we turned off the boiler, which in turn meant no hot water. Called the owner 'Donald' he was obnoxious and rude, blamed the issues on covid! We only booked a couple of weeks before so to advertise as 'luxury' was unacceptable, so bad that after a few hours there, we decided to leave and do the 400+ mile journey home!
I 've been there with my friends for one night. The cottage had plenty of space for us but unfortunately it was not cleaned! The pillows were smelling bad and i found someone else's hair in my bed.... I was so disappointed!Rooms: 2/5
Nice quite cottage in a loved quite area very peaceful. Layout of the cottage fixtures and fittings were good only fault Is the place could do with a wee bit of TLC shower, dishwasher needs a repair, rotary washing line is collapsed in a bush , bed mattress in severe need of replacing . I wouldn't say it was 5* more 3* but then I didn't pay 5* prices if all the wee details we're sorted it would easily be 5*. The website needs to be updated as they don't represent the true condition of the cottage and there's is no free wi-fi but very good 4g.
It's an amazing holiday house for big family members and friends
Location was great, but toilet facilities was dirty and not well maintained. Simple place to put head down not more than a night if you are a hygiene fanatic. Nice views from a side road nearby. Not at all close to Loch Ness...about 7-8 miles.
