Story

Barnacle Bill’s ‘Fabulously British Food’ is not only our company motto, it’s our driving commitment to the natural products we source, the ingredients we use and the belief that every customer deserves the very best available both, as a dining experience and in customer service – General Manager Esther Patchett ‘The Customer is our business’.

Barnacle Bill’s is a Traditional Fish & Chip Shop recently opened in Church Street Frome. Barnacle Bill's benefits from the super talented and much heralded young Fryer/Manager, Tash Glash, many customers’ may know her from The Seven Fish Bar, and it was a real coup to get Tash to continue working for Barnacle Bill's . Tash is ably assisted by Frome’s very own Karen Lochi – the French & Saunders of Frome. Regulars’ love them as they both have a unique ability to make everyone feel special and that’s our philosophy in a nutshell, all our customers’ are very special. We also have the lovely Mollie Warde and Izzy Macey, both very capable young women.

It’s it enormously important to everyone at Barnacle Bill’s that we protect our industry for future generations and thus, sustainability of fish stocks are paramount. Therefore, we invest a substantial amount of effort in ensuring we source not only the finest prime Cod fillets and loins available, that the fish we do use is all caught from environmentally managed sustainable stocks of the Northern Scandinavian and Faroe Isle waters. Great fish is one of nature’s finest resources’ and deserves to be treated as such. At all of Barnacle Bill’s Shops we ‘Cook to Order’ and we consider it a cardinal sin to have fish pre-cooked and sat in the hot box both, the fish and the customer deserves better than that.

Barnacle Bill’s pride ourselves on our range of Gourmet Homemade products too, our Fishcakes, made to our own secret recipe are building a following from Cambridge to Cowes and now of course, they’re available in Frome. We’ve recently introduced Cannon Ball Cod, originally to our Children’s menu though Mum & Dad seem to love them so much we’ve had to make the Barnacle Bill's Fish Balls for ‘Grown-ups’ too and we have a range of homemade sauces such as our heavenly Tartare Sauce and Coleslaw...…

Barnacle Bill’s are very happy to cater for parties, telephone orders are welcome and we have an extensive Gluten Free Menu on a daily basis.

Barnacle Bill’s benefits from a full License and thus, we have a comprehensive beverages’ menu for both, eat-in and take-away.

Our opening hours are: Tues – Wed 11.30 – 2.30, 4.30 – 8.00; Thurs 11.30 – 2.30, 4.30 – 9.00; Fri 11.30 – 2.30, 4.30 – 9.30; Sat 11.30 – 9.30. Look out for our special offers.
