About

Archangel Frome: Chat, Eat, Drink and sleep in style.

Story

Completely refurbished by the previous owners this quirky listed grade two building has managed to retain many of the original features including the squeaky floorboards!

The main attraction is the high quality, locally sourced food and epitomises the phrase “gastro pub”. Our popularity with our local market is testimony to what we consider to be the best restaurant in the area.

We have six rooms which all offer a contemporary feel which is complemented by modern amenities. They have been described as” boutique in style with a touch of chic”

The icing on the cake we feel is the service we deliver. Our aim is always to be attentive, yet discreet and totally flexible offering the highest levels of casual dining.

Our stay at this pub hotel was ok. We booked it on a January deal and for the price was fine, but we couldn’t really see how this is a 4* hotel or how we would’ve felt had we paid full price.nWe had the Classic double room which was an average hotel room, not bad but nothing fancy. The pictures on Booking certainly hyped it up and so we were a bit disappointed when first entered the room, as it was significantly smaller and less smartly decorated than we expected from the pictures. It was much smaller than expected but it had everything we needed. Heating was extremely hot on arrival but we adjusted it to a more comfortable level. The bed was comfortable and shower was good pressure. Bathroom looks a bit tired but acceptably clean. Again, not sure I would’ve been happy to pay more than what we did.nAlso, had this been a busy night, we certainly would’ve been kept awake by the noise as it’s right on the courtyard, with tables only a few metres from our door. We had a late night ourselves so it didn’t matter much.nThe pub itself was lovely and the restaurant was amazing. Portions were generous and food beautifully cooked, couldn’t fault it!nThe staff were also great, attentive and kind, very responsive and welcoming, which made for a positive experience overall.nIn summary, for an £85 a night stay for a weekend away it was a great place, not so sure if it’d been at full price of £130+ a night.
We were attending a gig locally and chose the Archangel as it was close to the venue. We were so glad we did! The location was great. On arrival we were met and immediatly felt welcome. Our room was excellent and well proportioned. We ate at the Archangel. Despite a relatively small range of options for us we both ate well. The fish and chips and steak optuons were excellent! Butcombe ales were excellent as well. Breakfast was typical full english and was well presented and excellently cooked. All in all a great stay and would not hesitate in booking again. Looking forward to it already!!
Loved our stay at the Archangel and we'll definitely be back. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a good one, lovely breakfast, great room and facilities and the room was warm and cosy. Loved the bathroom products and the personalised welcome note written on the pad. Attention to detail is fabulous. The location is perfect. Can recommend the food and cocktails at the Little Walcot which is a 5 minute walk away. The long stay carpark near M&S only cost us £4.20 from 3pm until 11am the next morning and it's a 3-minute walk to the Archangel. A lovely overnight stay if you're planning to head to the Aqua Sana Longleat spa... only 20 minute drive away. Thanks to Gemma for making us feel so comfortable.
Great pub with rooms.nThe room was upstairs in the courtyard. Spacious & clean with a comfy bed, great shower & fresh coffee.nThe restaurant is stylish & the food lovely.nWe came for a short pre-Christmas getaway & had a great time at the pub & the town of Frome. Highly recommended.
We stumbled across this pub by chance after a post Christmas shopping stroll and it truly felt like a hidden gem. Despite being very busy, it retained a real sense of charm and warmth that made our pub lunch thoroughly enjoyable.nThe food was excellent. The rarebit was rich and comforting, and the fish and chips were perfectly cooked, fresh and full of flavour exactly what you hope for from a great pub lunch. It’s clear the kitchen knows what it’s doing.nEven with the pub buzzing, the staff never let the pressure show. We were looked after brilliantly and made to feel genuinely welcome. We only caught their names in passing, but the three young ladies working — Gemma, Sasha, and Sasha — were outstanding!! Friendly, and attentive, they are a real credit!!nWe will be back to try the Sunday roasts!!nKindest regards and the warmest of Christmas wishes - Jeff & family
