Brilliant food. Perfect location for festival goers. I had the Fish n Chips and Hunters Chicken and Bacon. Incredible chef. Convenient for attending the Isle of Wight festival as it is a 5 minute walk from the entrance
We were looking for somewhere to have breakfast and found the Bargeman's Rest, it's a bit of a quirky drive to get there through an industrial estate, but once there it was fine and nice location. Food was good and top end of reasonably priced. Great traditional English pub interior. Would use again.
Fantastic Venue. We held our Wedding Reception and Evening reception here and we could not fault it. Jen and the team were brilliant. Always to hand to deal with everything we asked. The food supplied was great and portions were very generous. Would 100% recommend. Food, Staff, Facilties and View!
Very cool nautical decor adorns this riverside pub. They offer a good selection of beers and ciders, there is plenty of room for private functions, and a large patio to enjoy a drink outside. The food is moderately priced pub fare and the portions are enormous!
A very cute pub on the water in Newport. We had lunch here during a bike ride from Ryde across the east of the island. The fish pie for lunch was very heavy and I didn’t like the veggies it came with - tasted like plain frozen veggies from Lidl. Food is not amazing here or the best quality but the setting and customer service and drinks made up for it.
We came here for my birthday dinner whilst staying in Newport and it was amazing. My partner mistakenly ordered cheesy garlic bread and onion rings alongside our mains... We couldn't believe the portion sizes when the meals came out. I didn't finish my main coz I wanted dessert and the crumble was also delicious! Fast service as well, despite being packed.
Great country pub! The staff are great, the food is homely and comes in very generous portions and the riverside location is super. There's a couple of good local beers on along with the usual suspects and a good selection of cocktail options if that doesn't float your boat.
Absolutely fantastic I can only say that the food is wonderful, the staff were amazing and an over all fantastic atmosphere all round. Be warned take your appetite with you.
Very nice pub! The gammon steak was perfectly cooked along with everything else. The staff were nice and their customer service skills were awesome. I will be back next time I travel to the Isle Of Wight. The view of the river from the pub is also nice.
The Bargeman's Rest is a favourite old haunt which I keep coming back to. Cosy and characterful, this is a great pub for food anytime of year. Also the boast a good selection of ales and spirits. Great for a lunch date with a friend. It can get busy at peak periods so always a good idea to book to avoid disappointment.
